The offer is for 12 months at current salary, so look at it this way, you have 12 months to look for another job. Yes I am impacted, I get 12 months to look for something better while working for IBM. Had friend that moved to IBM earlier and after 12 months they were offered jobs at half the salary.

@2iyj - so according to what you are saying it sounds like you just moved to contract employee whose contract is up in twelve months. what a bunch of horse dung.
I sat next to some mainframe folks and they got moved to IBM in like 2005 - 2007 and their agreement was 24 months and after that they were all let go and they had some people from Brazil replace the folks and I am sure at a quarter of the salary.
That letter doesn't explain sh–. It doesn't tell you what business unit you will be in, so you don't know if it's GTS or GBS), it doesn't tell you what your 401k plan match is because GBS and GTS are different, it doesn't tell you what your bonus percentage will be, it doesn't tell you what your health plan options are. These are all things I would expect in an offer letter - instead it links to the generic public benefits page at ibm.com which is not correct for either GBS or GTS benefits as explained today on the HR call.
It also is EXPLICIT that the offer is not an employment contract and you remain an at-will employee.
The offeer letter says you are an eemployee with h a prre-deffined terminaatioion date, you arre effectiveely a W2 ccontraactor to AT&T with IBM as the temmp agenccy
I don't think one goes as a contractor. The moved employees become IBM employees with a 12 month no-layoff guarantee. There should be a package put out there describing the details, so that everyone can make an informed decision.
No, your employment is a 12 month agreement, when it expires they can do whatever they want including not giving you an offer, which means no severance because you're not being laid off your contract simply expired. Even if they did the current ISAP from IBM is only 1 month total.
"Had friend that moved to IBM earlier and after 12 months they were offered jobs at half the salary."
In that case, if you decline the offer, do you get severance pay and/or unemployment benefits?
Anyone have numbers on how many employees impacted?

WorkForce 2020, chance to get free training to increase your market value. Play the game.
This game is just starting. The folks who still work for T have to be feeling real motivated right now. NOT.
Don’t forget salaries at 2010 prices
Exactly: WF2020 really = Randy & his Johns + approx 2,010 of their most malleable minions. That is the trickster Randy's master plan.
Now we know what WorkForce 2020 really means: Reduce the AT&T workforce to 2,020 employees only.
