Board of Directors makes the call on them. And investment firms keep voting for the directors they want.
Stevenson is around because 95% of the stockholders that voted, voted to keep him.

Melissa Arnoldi was! And, I hope the board recognizes all that she has done for T and replaces Stephenson with her!
Unfortunately with a measure of reality in your post, I believe JD is next in line for CEO. Not as good of a choice as Arnoldi in my opinion.
When those around you are just as incompetent, nothing seems out of order. Hence the promotion of “buddies and friends” ... Do you honestly think most of upper management was put in place due to their hard work and qualifications? All we can do is just enjoy the ride, collect the pay check and wait in line for our turn at the guillotine..
