I know nobody is forcing us to work and everything, but setting the schedule that people with families basically won’t see them for days, even though they live in the same house, seems in contradiction with the basic human rights. Where is the line drawn, how much more of this can they impose on us?

It’s retail
Are you kidding me??? Factories do this all the time....people get bumped from shifts by people with more seniority...what do you think happens to them if they went to their boss and cried this much? They would be shown the door! If you don’t like it shut up already and move on!
They changed it for fresh they complained now are on a rotating scheduled. Remember produce and deli were closing what did it take for that to be over turned?
So, for the lean days you hire. If that is Sunday and Wednesday, you make sure they can and want to work that. Then you have to give them more hours, so you take a day from one associate A and take another day from another associate B. Then associate A and B quit. Then you hire to fill those hours. It happens all the time. They need people to work when the customers are there - nights and weekends.
OP, lol
It’s garbage. Hire people going forward to those shifts not ruin lives or existing associates.
Its a job, no one is forcing to work for sams, if the schedule doesnt work for you then time to look for a new place of employment.
With that said I do not agree with what sams is doing, I think its a stupid idea!! My club theres going to be somedays that are going to be so lean on help I'm not sure how we are going to take care of the members... Everything sams does they do very little research into these decisions, I wouldnt be surprised to see the them back peddle and change the scheduling format again.
