Pretty simple the union has no pull and were told the 3rd final offer will be taken.

@hme, I totally agree but the CWA leadership screws this up every time to because At&t says “we’ll give everyone retroactive pay if we keep the contract date 4/2018” for example. I can only speak for myself but I’d rather forfeit the retroactive pay and have the contract dates of D4 and D3 closer together. CWA leadership though, doesn’t give us that as an option. The wh--es that they are , they grab the easy money instead and claim they are doing it in the best interest of the members. B.s

@lrs...the unions don't have the pull individually. A regional strike does nothing, but T doesn't want a Nationwide strike. All the more reason we need a unified contract date for all contracts. Let's say make each new contract expire 12/31/24. On 1/1/24 T can start bargaining with whichever contract they want, a month or two at a time. The unions can tentatively agree to it pending tentative agreements of all other contracts and we all ratify together. This should be bargaining priority #1. Not rocket science folks!
I think the union has a bit more pull than you realize, though it's not due to Union leadership.
The Midwest went without a contract for over a year with the Company in the " Final offer, take it or leave it " mode.
Then, someone on the Company side of the negotiating table had a moment of insight and saw the iceberg coming right at them. ( Allowing two or more regions to be out of contract at the same time turns a strike into something to take seriously. )
All of a sudden they're willing to negotiate and both Midwest and Legacy T wireline now have tentative contracts.
The company doesn't care if a single region threatens a strike, but apparently it DOES care if multiple regions are involved. :D
Every contract that comes up, our Local President says "It's the best we can do, vote Yes" Everyone I talk to says they voted NO, but it always passes anyway. CWA follows orders from T, there aren't any real negotiations.
Good luck with the NO vote..unless the votes are counted in front of the members at the hall you can bet your A@@ CWA will somehow make sure the contract gets ratified by a large margin.
If this contract fails to represent the needs of prem techs or favors other work groups and is voted in CWA can bet their asses the Prem Techs will be opting out in droves in right to work states.
You wanna use us as a bargaining chip to further the position of others and continue to utilize this job title and my livelihood as a throw away job than I will keep my 2 and a quarter hours.
Before voting we must demand that a independent 3rd party(arbitrator) conducts the ratification vote. Take the district out of the equation.
Then there will be no question on the validity of the vote.
