Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

You mattered

To all f/XO ...you mattered, it was a pleasure to be a part of the team. Good luck for your future endeavors, do not look back, hindsight does not allow you to move forward. Closure means moving on from VZ, do it for your health and sanity, but never forget how you were treated. Our past guides our future.

I thought this needed to be on top. Posted by @Zxy00el-4nwk.

  • stop re-creating the same product we created 5 years ago. i just saw a presentation with 3 new products we were already close to completing when the execs k--led them off. now they've returned under a different name and are being developed by different groups when the original groups are still here and could pick up where they left off.

  • provide clear direction on all major projects within the company. either some sr. exec needs to sponsor it or start shutting it down. no exec support, budget, personnel, planning is starting to impact our customers as well as the 2 or 3 people remaining out of a team of 100 that can't keep up with everything that's breaking due to age.

  • give us some autonomy back

  • give us some budgetary power back. i shouldn't have to get 3 people above me to sign off on a $200 part to fix something that broke. let me spend a reasonable amount of $$ like i used to be able to

  • powerpoints..... i keep hearing the execs want them dead, yet i'm still creating them

  • stop reshuffling middle management. i had one boss for 8 years (director), i've now had 4 more in 2 years (manager). my team has also been moved into new orgs twice in 2 years. there's zero stability or continuity.

Not the OP, just an outsider looking in...like how the f/XO were treated.

I know what it means. Why are you doing it?

Writing in third person is writing from the third-person point of view, or outsider looking in.

@1arp, why are you speaking in the third person?

The OP was unable to communicate a lucid point within the written medium. He was schizophrenically all over the map, giving advice, contradicting that advice, re-giving that advice, re-contradicting that advice.

If communication's important, maybe the OP was let go for that?

Your missing the OP's point, the former employer is Verizon who acquired XO, and that the employees never were a part of being a V teamer.

It matters if you were f/XO, closure heals, and now that we have all moved on in our own ways, we will not look back. In the big picture time spent at VZ no longer matters.

avf, how exactly does "...do not look back but never forget how you were treated, hindsight does not allow you to move forward..." however your, "...past guides your future..." help? It is riddled with contradictions and makes zero sense. I don't have to have walked in your shows to understand that I'm reading id--tic drivel.

You misunderstand me. I'm not diminishing you, or others in your shoes, in any manner. I'm calling out a nonsensical meaningless post.

For all f/XO employees it does matter, until you walked in our shoes, keep your negative comments to yourself. If we knew of VZ's culture and all about the constant layoffs, most of us would have moved on before the acquisition was completed.

Pure, unadulterated tripe.

  • ...do not look back

  • ...but never forget how you were treated.

  • ...hindsight does not allow you to move forward.

  • ...Our past guides our future.

Make up your mind. Here's better advice, "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
