Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

People are not recyclable

There is more beyond Sam's Club. There are companies out there that actually care. Sam's Club taught me so much about management and I attribute much of my success to the lessons I learned from my direct managers, However, there are too many upper level managers that see everyone as numbers. Just remember that there are still companies that care. I am sad that everything turned to me leaving Sam's, but a paycheck isn't everything. Don't stress over thinking about leaving....there are companies who will value you more than Sam's Club leadership ever will at this rate.

@oir. Yep, don't try and think for yourself either. Those MM's want cookie cutter clubs with no imagination. They lose their marbles when someone thinks out of the box and you really gotta watch your back if your idea works. Usually won't get that far these days. On a tour a MM here in CA lost their mind when an item was not of feature. There was a layer on hand. "I dont care if you have to raise it up 8 pallets, its an extension of the run and goes on endcap." Looked awful! CM just has a blank stare on his face, obviously knows it doesn't make sense but, there's that toe line again. MM's so afraid of the regionals, regionals afraid of VP's. Bunch of sheep who can't think for themselves.

We are definitely replaceable. They can and will let you go and replace you with someone cheaper. It really s---s but they don’t care about quality anymore. Just toe the company line better than someone else.

@svc 100% agree! I used to think the same thing when I was there. And PTC's know this firsthand. It's an abusive relationship for all, especially leads, asst mgrs & some CM's. Most don't realize until it's too late. Actually sad because many know it but they don't think enough of themselves to get out. Let the back stabbing, playing favorites, egotistical CM's, MM's & regionals, non committed & zero loyalty bunch take the reigns now. Life is so much better on the other side.

@khd our club closed. I don't know where everyone went, but I do know that the ones who left the company are much happier. A majority of them are on my Facebook and we get together sometimes. I only know of 1 that was not happy at first. I think it was because she was with the company so long that another place was a big adjustment. But now she has found happiness. Everyone just kind of spread out and went for what they had always wanted to do. I myself left and wish I did it long ago. I think of all the stress I went through and didn't have to. But when I have my bad days here, it helps me to realize how much worse I had it there. You have to go through the bad to appreciate the good. I use to work as PTC and now I am an accountant. I love and appreciate my life more now. I actually have the time to do that. I really wish people would just do it. But it's like being in an abusive relationship. They think they can't do any better and have been beaten into submission. It takes courage to get away, but once they do I promise it will be better and they will all be happy they did it.

To Sam’s club they most definitely are a dime a dozen. Especially when it comes old folk and new younger generations.

I had a great 26 years !!! For the most part, Great managers and I made some good friends. Was fortunate to be able to go to The Shareholders meeting some years back. Great times !!! But it’s all coming to an end. I am fortunate that My husband makes great money and I don’t need to work but really enjoyed my job and interacting with my fellow associates. With all the positions being axed, others are being over worked and in turn becoming unbearable to work with. Even though the buildings stand and the doors are open, Sams Club is no more 😥 Peace Out
