CDC is being shut because they have been copying the original and selling 'fake' Cloud products , that are cheap but not durable enough.
I work in the big O but in another continent. We were ok till we went under Indian management. It all went crazy, no clear guidelines and even disrespectful treatment. Every growth possibility were handed to indians. They are biased-by-culture. The myth of the outstanding Indian It is just that, a myth. Big O falling behind is because of that.

And don't fool yourselves with the tale that HQ is better. HQ Engineering groups are just and extension or branch of idc-ap and cdcshit, just go aroud the campus or join a meeting. Those groups have huge representation in hq. Nothing wrong with being chinese or indian but they have biased and one sided mentalities which is detrimental. Those groups led by a chinese mgr will only have chinese team members, same for indian leaders. They feel special to be in hq but in reality both groups just brought cheap labor and cheap mentality to HQ which was bad for the business, but not their fault, it's just Oracle mgmt responsibility.
Yeah as mentioned in some other posts, engineers outside HQ are generally incompetent and they can't get any offers except from Oracle. Sack them all. They are totally a waste of money
The people I’ve worked with from CDC required way too much hand holding. IC3s and IC4s who can’t work independently. SMH. Whatever we pay for them, it’s too much.
Ppl outside HQ are useless in general. Better to cut all oversee R&D centres and only have local sales offices there

Reports from social media say there are around 1600 ppl in total in all CDC + OFSS offices in China(around 5-6 CDC offices in China). I doubt there would be so many ppl...
Idc has got much higher credibility & larger footprint, compare to cdc. Low cost argument is not that relevant now. Idc also offers exactly 12 hour gap for 24x7 operations.

Whatever, you may just expect the whole CDC and maybe OFSS together got ripped and all people cut. One CDC engineer's payroll can feed at least 3 ppl in IDC center.
@YuqwUWb-yzl not exactly. My wife is in suzhou oracle center and working on the PLM software. She is the software developer not QA. Though QA is the major part in suzhou oracle center. I do not know shanghai center and beijing center. Another thing is: oracle need to settle this down asap. Please do not delay the layoff process or the sw experts would leave by themselves.
Almost all people in CDC are QA engineers. Though their work might still be monitored and censorshipped by national security agents very very tightly

There are some technical difficulties to shutdown the whole China Dev Center. CDC employees belong to different M8/M9s, maybe almost all direct-reports of Larry have some people in CDC. It will be very weird that axing based on location metrics instead of business metrics.
