Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Severance?

All this speculation, I can't believe that there is no one out there that worked overnight and whose club has gone to days that can tell us if they received a severance package. ANYONE, facts please

@mbx sounds like your GM doesn't want to lose anyone in the process so is lying his a off to try and keep people. Severance will be offered IF and this is the important part IF your availability shows you can't work one of the other shifts. If your availability allows you to work another shift you are not qualified for severance since they are offering you a similar position and you are refusing it. KEEP THIS IN MIND and change your availability ASAP before the change if you want the severance . Some managers WILL use the above technicality to get out of paying severance.. so def. make sure your availability is ONLY night shifts prior to the switch.

As to those saying the position isn't being eliminated thats false. Night merchandiser will be eliminated. The new stocking shift is a new position which they will have to do a job offer for just life if you switched positions or just got hired.

My club DID offer a severance however it switched back in july. It's quite possible they were surpised by how many people they lost and how much severance they paid out and switched policy since.

I was offered severance when my club did the changeover last year. My position was eliminated. The new day merchandiser position is a completely different job code that you must reapply for.

They can't offer severance to some clubs and not others. I hope they use the extra payroll dollars from all the associates that have quit, to hire additional people in the legal department.

There is no severance. Why would severance be offered when the position still exists? Use common sense people

Does anyone know if once the hours change to 3:00-11:00 or 4:00-12:00 if they will be taking away the shift differential?

People on here in the past did say they were offered it and took it. I'm guessing they changed it along the way. I'm still hoping they didn't, but will know when we get our changeover date I guess.

I was told the same. So others that were offered a severance from nights going to days why were they? Or they just wanted to stir the pot and get our hopes up. My availability is 9 to 530 which does not fall into the new shifts so yet they did eliminate our job. We are working nights for a reason. I'm still out!!! I'll be looking even harder for a new job.

Our GM told us there won’t be a severance because they aren’t eliminating the job. They are just moving it to days. Audit, ptc, and accounting was eliminated there for they got the severance. This was what he told us.
