I’ve always figured that if I survived alt the restructures, cuts, buyouts ...eventually the company would reach the point where it need all of their workers and that we would feel more safe. I survived all the shifts that have happened lately, but I gotta say that people now never had a bigger sense of job uncertainty and never felt more stressed out since I started working here, Be careful what you wish for, right?

Ride My See-Saw
The Moody Blues
Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.
Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
It's for free.
I worked like a slave for years,
Sweat so hard just to end my fears.
Not to end my life a poor man,
But by now, I know I should have run.
Run, run my last race,
Take my place
Have this number
Of mine.
Run, run like a fire,
Don't you run in
In the lanes
Run for time.
Left school with a first class pass,
Started work but as second class.
School taught one and one is two.
But right now, that answer just ain't true.

“Uncertainty has never been greater” -OP
Are you certain of that?
Cutting heads. Getting rid of the worker bees. It’s all automated. It’s a load of pie in the ski wishful thinking by these ceo’s that don’t know their tails from a hole in the ground.
If you worked for Verizon for any length of time, you should already know that layoffs are a bi-annual thing. I had enough and took the package. Glad I did.
I agree with @bld , think wireline will be sold off . Kinda thought it would have happened already . Assuming fios is wireline , that gets rid of a lot of their pension obligations and union
There's still $7 billion in costs to cut by 2021.
If history repeats, next RIFs will hit as early as Halloween and as late as Thanksgiving.
The wire line will be spun off within the next 12 months. This was just discussed in a meeting I couldn’t get many details.
I agree with YVaMV5P-dzc. Heard a while back that Hans believe that the “right size” of the company was around 85k employees. We have approximately 130k now so reducing by 40% would bring us to that “right size”. It ain’t over yet kids!
Were you offered the VSP??
Get used to it, as this is your future at Verizon.
If I had to guess, I would say Hatchet Hans is looking for another 40% in headcount reduction to get below the 100k heacount number. Have an exit strategy ready to go.
