Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Does the leadership really think they can keep the efficiency with less shifts and a lesser workforce?

Producing the same results with less people and therefore less expences might look good in an excel sheet, but in real life it doesn’t work that way. I’m not trying to say that working in retail is rocket science or anything, but working at a store consists of many tasks you perform in a working day, and many of them can’t be done in a smaller amount of time, no matter who is doing them. Take that away and you get an overworked workforce who can’t get the work done anyway. At the end customers are the one that suffer the most. Are they even aware of that?

if success is measured in sales/profit margin then sure.. less payroll equal or greater sales= success. If success is measured in member services, Associate engagement and retention and pride in their work and club then not so much.

I feel in the club I work we are going around in circles. We look awful. I can't even imagine how it will look when nights goes to days. We are falling apart but this is what the owners want this is what they get.

@vfp is right. They are doing it and it shows. The club I work at looks the worse I've seen in my almost 19 years with Sam's. We have some nice young people who don't care how anything looks, whether its clean, if its merchandised correctly. Management is just having everyone do more more more.

@vfp those are the words that management feels they must say to HO in order to keep their job. When in fact it's quite the opposite.

It's ok you can speak freely here. This is your safe space.

Clubs have already been doing day stock, block scheduling and grouping. With great success.
