Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Not sure why the negativity

Not sure why everyone is complaining so much. I negotiated a mid 6 figure salary last year, almost 50k more than I was making at my previous employer. I get to work from home and the work is easy. I can mow the lawn, get stuff done around the house, all while doing my job and getting good yearly reviews. I did my research and knew I wasn't going to be getting bonuses or raises, which is why I negotiated a high salary. No complaints from me.

Great post. I couldn't agree more with the approach. I try to over deliver on every piece of work i do. I never leave someone hanging and i am always self motivated and looking for additional work. I haven't been to work more than 5 times this year and make 6 figures. Top ratings on my performance reviews. I'm not a manager, i'm a worker. Couldn't give a sh-- about the company, care deeply about my colleagues and my customers. Very happy to stay, very happy to be made redundant. As far as i'm concerned my freedom to manage my time as i see fit is my reward for a lack of incentives or bonuses. Happy mowing.

Good job! Can you come and work for me? I'm looking to build a successful company of full-time employees who only work part of the time from home because they are not challenged and have low expectations.

Anyone else want to join? Maybe we can get a listing on the NYSE...

You could sh-- gold bricks and they will still show you the door if and when it suits them. Good luck with the strategy but if you are as good as you say you would not be at DXC

BTW - i managed to piss of my US director sufficiently to find myself on the approved WFR list March 2017 .... best thing i did

Looks like someone struck a nerve with the original poster. Wait till he discovers he has to cut steak with his lawnmower. If you HAVE TO self proclaim yourself , then you have more issues to deal with other than being an employee of DXC.

@YJQ1YSh-1uhq - Sure, you have "worked in several corporate offices of the largest companies in the world and been very successful". So successful that you joined 1/2 sunk ship and drink the koolaid.

While you mention "whining anonymously on a message board", here you are gloating anonymously on a message board and taking time off your grass to enlighten us.

LOL!

Wow, so angry!

I've worked in several corporate offices of the largest companies in the world and been very successful. I work hard, I work smart, and get high quality work done. I've been complimented, gotten great feedback from customers and my superiors are very happy with my work. I work so efficiently, I have time to run errands, mow the lawn in between work or during calls.

all I'm saying is that DXC isn't that bad if you're realistic about it. There are no raises. There are no bonuses. It's not going to be a career for most of us. Get out there and find something better if you're so unhappy like all the grown ups whining anonymously on a message board on company time about how miserable their job is.

I wonder with your smartness and exceptional skills why you could not negotiate 7 figure salary?

I’ll tell you why all the negativity ; It’s because of lazy knobs like you that have no credibility in any professional manner.

Bragging about ripping off corporate time and money while sodding off your back lawn , and thusly undercutting the dedicated workforce that still cares about clients , is not a trait that will be tolerated for long . It never is .

If you were so smart , you would not brag about it . I know your type and saw it in DXC over and over again . Their professional fates didn’t work so well for them either.

Accountability goes a long way. I can’t see you ever getting beyond your lawn . My bet is you are so home bound , you are a social outcast and can’t function in a real office environment let alone the rest of society .

It’s not jealousy that people feel for you . It’s pity

so it turns out that you are probably "one of them". the people who actually can sit back an relax and collect a big salary, while the others are pressed under the work for an below average salary.

seen them more then enough - people with big words, who manage to squeeze themselves in to lots of things, manage to get rewards for other peoples work.

It is all about selling airbubbles, see Mikey, he also manages to do that very well and is still around, while actually ... indeed!

I've been with DXC since day one and have seen the following types of people:

1) those who are well in their forties and fifties that have negotiated a six figure salary and live the easy life, hoping to reach their retirement with this mindset;

2) youngsters who negotiate a way too high salary with respect to their work experience and skills set; they are practically shooting themselves in the foot, career wise;

3) people who've been with the company for 10+ years, or old fashioned, or haven't learned anything new in that time and are made redundant; it's the type of people who still believe they can survive on one employer till their retirement.

In the end, it doesn't matter. We're all expendable at DXC, so you might as well continue developing your skills (which is what every adult is supposed to do, unless you want to flip burgers for chump change), poke the right people to get cetificates/trainings expensed, and then go elsewhere where you are appreciated. It's your life. Make it worthwhile. DXC isn't going to do that for you. Take what you need to be desirable to other employers, and when the time is right get the hell out. I will.

@YJQ1YSh-ilg and @YJQ1YSh-sxx have their eyes open. Why don't you?

Hang in there and hold your head high OP. It is very encouraging to old timers like me to know there ARE young people here who know their worth and how to capitalize on it.

Don’t let the down votes and nay-sayers discourage you. These people have neither the IQ nor the initiative to succeed, so they deride those of us who do. This is just human nature... the losers group together and jealously attack the winners.

I have executed your model for 40+ years and it works very well. Companies always lay off the weak and desperate. They leave the confident, strong producers alone. You are an inspiration.

Sounds like you're great, heard there's a big calling for lawn mowers across the board. "Exceeds all expectations" are very easy to come by, so I wouldn't gloat too much (I've never recieved anything else in a review... Well before it was a 1 but same thing).

Also, I accepted VR and close to doubled my salary the week after I left - so as for no one else will hire me big lol.

Doesn't mean that the shady practice of binning skilled workers, replacing with unskilled in short order, and doing precisely nothing to improve the sales pipeline is good for anyone that works there - be they people who aren't in it for the long haul or not. Hope the lawn mowing remains steady for the foreseeable future.

Minimum effort? I'm great at my job and have gotten nothing but great feedback. I'm paid well and do a good job, but I'm not planning this to last forever and wont be here b--ching about it when I'm eventually let go. I'm well aware there are no bonuses and no raises, and took the job knowing that. If you dont like it, go somewhere else, unless no one else will hire you.

Silly c--t, it's people like you putting in minimum effort and taking a decent salary that have made the company a dumping ground.

Agreed, I've got some training paid for suprisingly, and I agree it's short sighted, but that's part of my longterm plan. I'm not retiring at DXC and the people who thought they would fooled themselves.

I applaud you for negotiating a higher salary, but this is very short-sighted. Take what you can now because you will never get another raise, bonus and the good yearly review means nothing. Try and pick up some useful skills along the way to pad your resume as you will not get any training paid for. Just remember that you probably replaced someone who was making a higher salary and you can be laid off at any time when they find someone who is willing to make a lower salary or they decide that they don't want to pay you anymore because the stock price is too low. Good luck!

I am able to mow the lawn when attending long meetings, yes. That being said, I don't expect to have a long career at Dxc, im young and gaining experience while being paid well. I don't mind a lack of raises and bonuses as I don't expect to be here too long and am being paid well. The people who are here complaining about the company have themselves to blame. If you don't like it, find a new job, unless you've been hanging on to an old job, haven't learned new skills and now aren't hireable.

You negotiated a good six figure salary last year and are getting good yearly reviews (plural)?

Presumably you added 50% onto your salary and now you work from home, mow the lawn, and you find the work easy?

You're content with no prospect of fiscal incentives?

I think this says more negative things about DXCs hiring practices than you would like.

Great post. It is refreshing to hear of someone taking the initiative to look out for themself, rather than meekly accepting the table sc-aps offered to them.

I’ve posted here numerous times on the benefits of taking charge of your career and stop playing the victim.

Those who work extra hours and/or go years without pay increases have no one to blame but themselves. Harsh? Perhaps. Accurate? Absolutely.
