Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Already seeing the "benefits" of cost cutting and outsourcing.

Fiber build out, can't get fiber optic jumpers from the new low cost vendor on time. Supply chain network is a fu<king joke. They might deliver circuit packs (plugs) a week after the due date of orders. Meanwhile management is barking about completing orders on time. We, the (dumb a--) technicians that everyone seems to like to hate, have to make it happen. Robbing Peter to pay Paul will only work for so long.

I find as my Give-A-Damn with AT&T goes down, my general happiness increases.

Want more fun, try calling a test center, better bring your lunch, might be a while.

@YIAsid2 Quit your whining and keep jeop’ing the order. Email your supervisor so it’s in writing. It’s out of your control so quit trying to play “manager”. You need to do the best with what you have and what’s under your control. Anything beyond your control isn’t your problem.

@YIAsid2-wxa We don't pay our bills on time. So, they don't follow the contract? They just pay like whenever and who cares about being sued? Then you say, "I will follow that contract to the letter." We follow the contract to the letter, or the just don't pay?

T has at least a 20 yr history of not paying bills in a timely fashion.

We had contractors that buried cable that were owed for 4 months of work.

But T bigs the contract out every year, and the contractor didn’t want to get blacklisted.

They always did get paid... when T got around to it.

The plug in issues have been a problem for at least the past decade in that so many have been manufactured discontinued for the older equipment. Having to use refurbished equipment that might or might not work out of box. Plus we treat our vendors like c-ap and quite a few no longer want to deal with us. We don’t pay our bills on time, will push them to ramp up manufacturing time frame on very small margins because we have decided to ramp up deployment schedules, and stop ordering with every quarterly budget issues. I have seen us purchase items (because the contract called for certain amounts to be purchased) and not allow them to ship to save transportation costs. Extrapolate that out to our building services people. I take a contract with very small margins I will follow that contract to the letter. Not going to wipe out a sink if that is the night for trash pickup only.
