Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Membership/Marketing

I keep hearing people say Marketing will be gone in August. I was told that marketing would definately last through another year since they invested so much money in the iPads. Anyone have any insight on this?

To the op, just because the company gives you an ipad, does not mean your safe. Just know it is coming and be prepaired. Don't buy a house, don't buy a car, don't take that fancy vacation. Be smart and make your plans now on what your going to do.

I guess the rocket scientist out there don’t really understand what our membership department is about . Understand the big picture before you start regurgitating information that you don’t understand.

Go be a troll somewhere else .

In field associates work harder than you think. If we dont meet our numbers they stay on us. While those positions sometimes seem worthless to us as well, we do bring in income like renewals that some members never planned on renewing again. So all income coming in helps. Associates that have never tried going in field have no idea what we go through trying to sell Memberships

Nope my feathers have not been ruffle. But lying to make a group of individuals look bad is not alright. If you were giving real numbers then you have been over paid and that should be looked at.

Don't assume that you know everything about each job inside the club. Along with the daily responsibilities that go along with them. You sir/ma'am miss all of the little details.

Deflection does not look good on you. Belittling another position to keep the spotlight off of you that's a s---er play. We are not playing "Big Brother" or "Survivor" the last person standing is not the winner.

It may be that marketing is on The chopping block and I see the writing on the wall. But just like in the past, they've eliminated marketing more than once and had to bring them back because they we're losing numbers.

There will be more cuts and closing in the future there is no doubt, but I'll continue to do my job 110% until it has been eliminated. I take pride in everything I do or I don't do it at all.

some of these comments coming from people that haven't even been out in the field sweating setting up canopies tables chairs 15 16 hour days go in the night before to set up the canopy but whenever we have a blitz no one's there to help. I'm not saying my job is any more important than your job we are a team we bring them in you fill their carts simple as that

And who makes 80 thousand?? Good grief

@1yyh you are an I'd**t. You think that by throwing out unvalidated numbers makes you smart. It doesn't. $80000 annual salary get real. I don't clear 28000. There are 20yr managers that don't clear that. And if marketing wasn't out in the field to answer questions to educate or correct the miss guided information the associates tell them your numbers would be alot less. Just because we are Sam's Club doesn't mean that we above paying for a booth to increase our #s. Is small business owners do it we show show that we are willing to as well. We are getting into the community and getting involved. You probably won't do that ever.

As for your outrageous claim on milage. Maybe there are some that abuse it. I am not one of those. Do you have the ability to save on your service using BYOD? It is available. There is no savings on vehicle repairs. I spend my own money on gas and repairs. I would be happy if we had company cars to use. It would shut people like up. They company would not have to pay out for travel.

You really don't know anything. I do it because it's my job. I love helping our members. I love knowing what I do helps our chances of getting our Sam's share each year. If I don't spend the time and money on events then you would b**check that it was my fault you didn't get$$.

It amazes me that there isn't a booth set up outside of Walmart from time to time.

It’s a waste of f---ing money maybe if you’d loose your own money you would think twice. Sam’s should never have to pay a fee to set up. It’s like your paying another company. This is why we are going digital. This is the best thing the company could’ve done.

A) $80,000 x 2 people yearly salary

B) $5000. Yearly fees for bogus entry fees chambers etc...

c) $3600. Yearly gas mileage

D) $12,000 snacks you take to them

= $102,000 of wasted money per club.

We let the ptc go who held us together vs I bring nothing back each week to show for $102,000 per year.

I have no idea why anyone would pay for Booth Fees out of their own pocket to sell Memberships at an off site Event. And then have to be reimbursed. I bet when you get your reimbursement back and you didn’t Bring the #’s in that they thought you should, they make you feel like c-ap too. That is absolutely the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Either you are being taken advantage of by your Managers or they absolutely don’t get the way this company works. You are promoting for them, if they can’t pay the bill for the booth upfront, then you shouldn’t go. I’m sure you are setting your booths up and breaking them down by yourself as well?

It could be next month, end of summer or even end of year. They don't need us if we feed them with emails and business names. The leads they give us are not vetted that's what they're using us for. If they vetted them they would know half of the ones that they push out to us are home addresses. Now that membership desk has iPads it's not a hard stretch for them to know and be able to work the marketing iPads. This is just me but I think that it will be jewelry leave that goes next. But I could be wrong they've already got our hands tied with doing events. Because now we have to pay for things out of our pocket and then get reimbursed makes us have to hold back on the events we do when we have to pay for the booth.

I'm not sure about anyone else but a lot of my numbers came from those outside events. I have regulars that go to those events just for the fact of being able to renew their membership with me. Their word of mouth also increases my numbers for those events.
