Lot of money has been allocated to that account recently. In fact our CFO has mentioned it being fully funded. Not many companies our size are doing that.

@1fyb, Economics my dear fellow, pure $ economics.
Are you sure that it is "fully and well funded" ? Then why shut it down to new employees years ago and actively trying to take the pension away from employees that have them ?
Mr75 in 92 days, hoping to make it..If I don't, will definitely consult a labor lawyer. I understand its an at will work environment, but damn, to axe folks within months of retirement eligible should be a crime in a company this size. I am taking retirement if I make MR75, taking the lump, screw the severance, tired of this sh--.
The old SWBT froze Mgmt pensions a long time ago. Perhaps that didn’t happen in the other companies.
What bump are you referring to - the added benefit of taking the lump some with the 2018 interest rate that is offered through March of this year? Loosing $300k - after 17 years my pension balance is not close to that - are you referring to something else?
They hit me with 9 months to go. No jobs so it is time to Ben dover. I would even move to make my date. MTP is all about benefits....not pension
The "bump" you're referring to is the lump sum total that can be calculated on the Fidelity website?
If you get surplused and don't meet the MR75 you don't get the big bump in pension. I'm 18mo short and even if I take the MTP option I don't get the bump. I loose out on $300K. Only reason for me to find another job in AT&T is to work another 18mo and get the pension bump.
