Doesn’t anyone have anything positive to say about the company they work for or does everyone truly believe the company is getting rid of all its employees?

Look at this link below and tell me what you think. These numbers do not include the VSP.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/257304/number-of-employees-at-verizon/
Including the VSP, that a loss of ~45,000 employees over the last 4 years or so...nearly 25% of the company. And that's just the beginning...with an the automation and changes going on, there will probably be more to come...especially within the network organization, but nobody is really safe. There are a lot of changes going on so employee headcount can be reduced...this company is doing whatever it takes to keep the shareholders happy.
The last 8+ yrs there has been no intouchables. Its hadn't mattered your race religion s-xual preference or whatever. If your American you've been shown the door.
Who would look for positivity on a layoff site :)
The SHAREHOLDERS ONLY CARE ABOUT SHORT TERM RESUTS!!! That is how they are the problem!! Take care of your employees and the rest will follow. Look at Publix, Costco, and Starbucks. Look Walmart and Target started doing better in the last year by taking care of their employees.
I am sure you like watching your 401k go up !
It's just a job, take their money and ignore their self serving b---s---. Open you eyes and see them as the small inconsequential narcissistic phonies they are. I laugh all the way to the bank. Think about it, who in their right mind would want to be them. Miserable people with no true value.
@1mzu : how are shareholders the problem ?
I try to stay positive but been here three years and have seen five rounds of layoffs. As a whole I love my job, however the CEO and the shareholders are the problem.
“...How about 3M in fidelity...not bad when you have no direct reports...”
You’re what’s wrong with society, an entitled class braggart making money off the backs of others sweat, people who do have direct reports, people working in business offices, people out on phone poles, in manholes, on antennae, in central offices...
If you’re still here, adding to your $3,000,000, we’re still top-heavy.
“Money for nothin'...
Now that ain't workin', that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya, them guys ain't dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb” (not)
Negativity is the way of the Verizon culture. If they want to change that the company needs to buckle down and realize what they have done and start correcting it. It is so farupside down I am not sure they can do that. They created they need to fix it. It is a shame that our culture is nothing compared to what it once was. Sure great benefits and pay but that will be whittled away. Shame on the executives like Lowell and Stratton and marni and all the rest that lined their pockets at the workers expense. As long as you have that you will have employee negativity
Positivity, hmmm. How about 3M in fidelity that I accumulated over 30 years, not bad when you have no direct reports. This board focuses on such meaningless topics. Focus on the fringe benefits the company provides instead. It outweighs the VSP by far.
We are POSITIVELY screwed.
I am thankful to VZ for paying for my MBA, CPA, CFE and CGMA. I am also very grateful for all the training they paid for me. I have been with the company close to 30 years and will be leaving with VSP. VZ 2.0 is focused on zero base budgeting and not the welfare of the employees. I wish my coworkers much success in the future and believe me it hurts me to see so many people stressed out to the max.
@oln spot on
I am thankful for the job that the company has given me. I have always gave an honest 8 hours work for 8 hours pay. Always went above and beyond, worked many all nighters and accepted many call outs....and I got paid well for it. However, I believe the people who now run this company want to cut head count as much as possible. They want a network that has very little upkeep and when it does, they’ll use contractors. Customer service has taken a back seat to shareholders.
Truly believe they are getting rid of pensioned employees ! Temp/contractor hiring is the way they are going .
