1/28 has been confirmed - it was restarted to me again today as we were preparing to transfer projects to non-impacted members in my org.

i'll just leave this here, because att is just following ibms focusing on teleworkers and older employees. ask yourself when the last time stephenson did anything original, been decades in my recollection.

looks like they found a way to force the age discrimination lawsuit to arbitration and not through the court system. they know every trick in the book.

It's almost impossible to win an age discrimination suit against a company like ATT. In America the legal system exists to ptotect the corporations from you, not the other way around. You didn't know that?

An advice to the perplexed

Don’t wait for the 28th, 1Q or what not.

Start looking and you’ll have better chance landing a job while still employed.

20/20 wasn’t about upskill to succeed in ATT, it was upskill to find another job elsewhere.

Also, adjust your expectation.

If you can argue you can telecommute effectively, then this is an argument your job is offshore candidate.

Emails go out on the 21-24 to those effected. The all clear email will be sent on the 28th.

Good luck proving it.

Do you want to be tied up in legal fees against a company that was smart enough to get the tw merger thru the doj?

If age and amount you make at the deciding factors (not publicly announced of course) to bring surpluses then why aren’t there any discrimination lawsuits? Or are there?

ahhh ... and then the people in the group that were already marked as "technical" could be getting cut and they can make it show like they were not discriminating against that whole group when they submit the age\position summary of those who did get cut. the new "technical" people that are not being cut this round will help balance out the ages and titles, etc. brilliant.

if you are over 50...i'd be worried. they won't say it out loud obviously, but age and the amount you make will make a difference.

And not all in current job title move to new one.

@utm , @bqr , Yes I have seen this done in the past. Upper management will move "good ole boy" folks under new job title to be safe.

@bqr, that's an interesting point. I say that because I know of a group that are 'Senior Business Mgrs' and are very rapidly having their titles changed by HR to a more 'Technical' type.

Was talking to a director earlier today who told me job title has something to do with how they're handling notifications. Apparently if they're getting rid of the entire job title, you may not get a warning, just bad news on the 28th.

FYI- a different group reported there was no warning call beforehand, so possibly no notifications until the 28th, saying you are immediately affected and off payroll end of March. Assume something similar in the following months, as I’m sure this isn’t the only round.

It's the 28th for this wave. My org hasn't heard anything. I'm told that's because there will be additional waves in 1Q and they'll eventually get to us. Don't know if that's true, but it is what I'm hearing.

I will third that statement. Jan 28th is the day that the surplused employees will be notified. That is according to an Area Manager that I am close to (not my supervisor). That means affected/unaffected calls will begin likely sometime next week.
