I heard some people will be called this Friday 10/14 with bad news. I also heard that JOhn Donovan said he was having hard time sleeping due to upcoming layoffs.

Any rumors for this coming round of surpluses or is it cancelled for this round?
At the Labs in NJ, we were told there is a 15% slated for January. We were told this by our manager. They have been continuously merging departments, and cutting, this has been going on for quite some time. We already had a voluntary, and two Force Management cuts in 2018. They say 2019 will be brutal due to the company's huge debt.
My last post as @WxsMGiz-2qvp, I had my meeting yesterday and I'm not affected. I'm probably ohg so screwed with less people and more work.

Today is 12/14/18, and I just heard about 50 in Dallas back office had a surplus meeting. Can follow work to Houston. That’s all I’ve heard so far.
I suggest Donovan just look at his 401K balance and savings/investment statements each evening to reassure himself of his financial independence and calm himself down for a good rest. His T nest egg is a very nice cushion to comfort him into proper sleep. He has no financial worries, nor do others at the very top of T, who got rich riding atop a 100 year old icon which they didn't create in any way. Those getting canned soon by AT&T don't have that cushion. Those are the ones who need some sleeping pills, not Donovan.
I know this affects my dept in marketing. I have a meeting setup with my boss on Friday 12/14 to tell me if I keep my job. I understand sales groups are not affected this round.

You "heard some people"? What organization? How many people? What level employee did you hear this from? You cannot make a post like this without being assumed to be a troll.

If Donavan is having a hard time sleeping it’s becsus he knows he and a few others totally blew this company to bits. I highly doubt he gives two hoots about Job loss. At least he seemed to be honest about what’s to come.

The most important words in the town hall were not that he claims to be losing sleep over surpluses. He said that surpluses were going to happen despite reskilling and certifications due to the lack of growth in the business. This is the worst kind of surplus; where the decay in the business impacts headcount.
2019 will be a harder year for all employees. Even if you don't lose your job, raises and investments are going to be cut. Add to that signs the macro economy is slowing down and we have a whirlwind coming.

@1wut, yes this coming friday is the day some of our colleagues will be called and told they will be let go. Maybe he is telling the truth ,but it really will not elicit much sympathy since there will be many people loosing sleep and their jobs.
