Take the AWS Cloud Practitioner classes and you will see that the big 0 is at least 10 years behind AWS.

AWS isn't standing still either. Amazon does care about dividends or buy backs.

Only technology leadership and market dominance.

Amazon are not just migrating off, they are learning how to do it on one of the largest and most critical Oracle deployments in the world. Larry said so himself. They will share those learnings with their customers and partners.

Another bs, sigh...tired of this, oracle seriously needs a humble/modest but wise leader.

1blc: you haven’t been keeping up. AWS just announced they should be completely off O DBs in 2019.

Now you can see why Larry is going nuts bashing them. Not only will they lose revenue from a big customer, that customer has a way to get off the Oracle tech and, more concerning, will show other orgs how to do the same.

and with all their engineering force behind them, AWS has not managed to migrate from Oracle DB in last couple of years.

How do you expect a normal customer to migrate from oracle?

what wrong did LE say?

In RDBMS, Oracle is probably still the number one DB for enterprise.

Amazon DB offering like "Amazon Aurora is a MySQL and PostgreSQL-compatible relational database built for the cloud, that combines the performance and availability of traditional enterprise databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases." is built on open source DBs. Amazon has not changed the DB engine, rather enabled it to use Cloud Infra for HA & scaling.

Oracle in their current offering of Auto DB have not leverage cloud Infra for HA. As I understand, Oracle DB HA, scalability offering is still based on exadata based RAC model.

Oracle is now changing current model to leverage Cloud Infra for HA, scalability.

LE and DJT should both be removed from their jobs on the basis of insanity.

Larry, Larry, Larry..... you are now old enough to know that when you adopt a “Never!” attitude, you lock in your old attitudes and fail to advance. Remember your “Network Computer”? Remember your attitude on the Cloud 5 years ago? Why are you so stubborn?

Here’s some free advice: Stop wasting time berating your customers and start innovating. You cannot RIF your way to profitability. You can’t force customers to take your medicine. Come up with something that people will break down doors to obtain. If you can’t do that, RETIRE!! RIF yourself, FFS!
