Feeling bad for those forced to stay

While I'm ecstatic to be closer to my final day at Verizon, I think I'm starting to experience "survivors guilt." I feel so bad for two of my coworkers who were denied while I was approved.

I have no idea what was the deciding factor, but I know all off us were more than ready to leave this place, and I'm the only one who's actually leaving.

I don't even know how to act around them anymore.

I'm just hoping they find something better and are able to leave on their own soon.

I was with VZW for 8 years. First 6 years I was very loyal to the company and working hard/smart executed several new projects. From the past two years, I don't have any motive to work. All politics. No real management. I started working normal 8 hrs. I like to be in layoff list within next couple of years

just stop it! What makes you think that you are in a better position than those who are staying? If the workload gets unmanageable, the company will rehire ... at a cheaper rate ...

Just to respond.

  1. We denied aren't getting c-ap extra from the company. No special bonus. Nada. We get to keep our jobs just like them that didn't click.

  2. They may throw all that extra work our way but the new mantra from Hans himself is to work smarter and do only what needs to be done. So I look forward to a stable workload in the longer term. Some pain at first but they better not be counting on us each doing the work of 2. Not happening.

  3. They are not getting more hours out of me. I will work to improve efficiency but if they want more hours they need to backfill.

They'll be along sooner than later, you can feel bad that you got the better deal soon enough.

Denieds are getting pretty nice bonuses and raises if they ask for them. Don't feel too badly.

Why feel bad for them. If they feel bad let them say themselves. I personally dont see good or bad in either circumstance. Just different

I feel bad for those staying also. I've started transitioning some of my responsibilities to a colleague, and I can see he's starting to panic at the amount of additional work he will have to take on.

Hmmm.... you were approved and they were denied.

Possibly means you were a low performer and had a c-appy manager who chose to keep you around for headcount instead of working you out the business. Now you're getting paid to go away.

Congrats! You are the weakest link. Buh-bye.
