Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Union/Non Union

Wireline is all union here in the north east. How are they going to intertwine non-union workers? Going to be very uncomfortable situation to say the least.

I think 90% of us union workers are good hard working people, there are always a few slugs. I worked in NYC after Sandy and I can say it's a lot different there with work ethic but when in Rome! Most of us are old now and our bodies are beat up, can't do as much and no young people being hired. Union has been good all in all.

Union is in business just like the company is. Always about the money. Against bullying, but they are a big bully. HAHA maybe they should be concerned with people more than politics. Maybe not as a whole, but just like in everything else, the few ruin it for the masses.

So your all getting beat up and nervous about a riff because the management from the top have been robbing Verizon blind for decades and now that they have just about picked the bone clean so their about to feed on each other so now your going to try to blame the Rank and file union worker .Get real

Verizon had a gold mine and the execs raped it not the minor salary of a few union workers

@whi so if "union" members truly act that way then I'll go on and cancel my membership today. Thanks for freeing up about $100 bucks a month. I'd rather not be supporting unethicall acts and greedy people. That's the case- I could back the company. It's Union people that do things like that, they should not have a job. They're making it hard on the rest of us who actually work for a living and don't just stand by the wayside doing the bare minimum. You're no different than a freeloader. Maybe that's why the companys in the shape it's in. Imagine where we be if we had all those freeloaders actually working.. doing the job they're capable of doing and not just taken the easy route and given 70% daily because they just there to collect a paycheck. I'm tired of being at work doing job while everybody plays FMLA and gets by on the minimums just because they think they are entitled to it. Fire them all and hire more hard-working people, like me. People that are actually trying to be successful and help the company be successful, instead of just standing there to collect a paycheck for a greedy self. No wonder the company doesn't want the union involved with anything. They're just a bunch of freeloading lazy humans. Most of the higher-ups on the union side don't even come to work. They always have "something to do outside of the office". 《like sit on the couch and watch TV》 They haven't worked a day in who knows how long. Maybe those Union thugs like that are the ones who ruined it for everyone else. Stop biting the hand that feeds you, because you might miss it when you don't have it. The Union used to have a purpose that was good. What happened to the union? Is it run by lazy Millennials to? Or is it run by old entitled people who are just there to collect a paycheck and get by on doing the minimum?

@ope - they don't just stand around, they'll talk about how it's unfortunate when people have "accidents"... wouldn't it be a shame if that guy that makes us look bad fell down a flight of stairs?

It will also be funny if the wireless side ever realizes that the wireline side built the wireless side. Wireless isn't sh*t without the wireline maintaining the fibers that make wireless work

It will be funny when the non union guy is getting work done and the union guys are standing around wondering why he works so hard

From what I’ve seen the union is greatest for the longest term members. The newer hire you are you seem to get much less.

I can tell you that many on the wireless side are ready to unionize now more than ever. If you are on the wireless side you know what I mean. We just need people to step up and get us started and the rest will follow. I know a few retail employees are union , but that's not who I am talking about. Talking about Network.

My office is 50/50 union / non union. Not uncomfortable in the slightest. We’re all here to do a job.

I don't understand why the union makes no effort to expand membership to other areas. Trust me, many people would join in a heartbeat if it was ever an option. Is it not worth the effort? Too expensive?
