@VgTviV3-oho "What part has been debunked?"
The article says "In a December 2017 news release advocating in favor of Trump’s tax cuts, AT&T promised bonuses of $1,000 to 200,000 employees over the next year. The news release omitted that unions had already previously negotiated those bonuses with AT&T before the tax cut bill was passed."
That's hogwash, which incidentally, I first saw in the Daily Beast.
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/20/tax-reform-reaction-att-is-giving-bonuses-to-200000-employees.html
"AT&T told CNBC the bonuses announced on Wednesday are above and beyond any existing agreements, which means some workers would get two $1,000 allocations: One with a new contract, and one when the tax reform bill is signed."
It was an additional bonus, not the same bonus previously negotiated with the union.
And another thing not made clear is, the 16,000 fewer jobs were not accomplished mainly by layoffs. The majority of the reduction was simply not backfilling attrition, whether it was resignations or retirements. A minority of those job reductions were accomplished by layoff. And the layoffs usually happen to consolidate real estate. AT&T has a lot of half filled offices.
