If you're on the 44k list, non-union, and have over 15 years in; How long can you realistically expect to last at "new" VZ? Although "they" don't owe us anything, why are "they" letting all of this speculation and morale busting run wild?

I’m sure there are people on the 44k list that will be slated to go asap and those that could last forever.
The issue is no one knows. If you generate money and have the best customers have been leading for years etc etc but somehow through the musical chairs get a bad VP you may get the ax while someone else who maybe should be gone slips through.

@pbr gets it. The real business has all the revenue but it is on the aging side of the business lifecycle. So it is squeezed (hopefully not tight enough to damage the brand) to redirect funds which can be used for new growth and speculative projects (the beginning of the business lifecycle)
Actually, this is Business 101. But execution is KEY. Verizon has always had a poor track record in launching side businesses. Terremark and more, right? Hans has enthusiasm but he doesn't have the track record which says he can pull it off. Legacy employees are uneasy. Newly on-boarded employees are genuinely hyped.
There are going to be very few of us left that actually know how things that make us money work. Some of us Gen-Xers have been waiting for this. Just wait for the fallout and let's see what happens. Some of us are prepared for what ever is to come.
That is the million dollar question and why you know that there are no realistic plans at work here. Just more pie in the sky stuff. The same thinking that brought us Go90, AOL, Yahoo. All of the people who squandered capital by letting these billion dollar boo boos get approved got rich while the company suffered. Something is very very wrong here.
