Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Best advice... take the package!

I've seen the 2019 budget. It cuts salary expense by 33%. So, if only 10% take the package, guess what happens to the other 23%? RIF, baby, RIF! And, the 2019 severance will be half the package offer in 2018. Heed my advice... take the package. No better deal and you leave on your terms.

There's no way this is accurate. There are a lot of union folks on here trolling, that much is obvious. They're just hoping as many IT folks as possible take the package because in the last strike we were the more effective field workers. Get rid of us and the ranks of functional, unwilling scabs gets a lot thinner.

Yes, there's plenty of folks in IT who've never held a screwdriver before, let alone a hammer drill, but a good number of us damn well can. A whole lot of us can somehow deal with the networking end of things better and faster than the regular techs.

Typos fixed (hopefully)

@xsk. That’s aleady been happening over the last 5 years. Common sense tells me haven’t seen the budget. If you have, the investors and the WSJ would be very interested in the strategy instead of posting it here. If you were in the know, you wouldn’t be risking it here.

If they are already moving IT to eventually India, what makes you think they won't move other departments to other foreign countries. Philippines employment is cheaper then china or india. If you don't work in 5G area, then I'm sure your job will be at risk - if not now, for sure in the months ahead.

I agree as the 23% will not be exclusively salary expense, there are other items that will be cut back, such as capital, travel, real estate being sold off, etc

So you’ve seen the 2019 budget? It’s amazing it’s that simple. Your analysis assumes everyone makes the same salary. Another id--t.
