Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

hang on for as long as you can

its obvious most people are not busy, but continue to be paid well. do nothing all day, its not much of a life and you probably hid your laziness from your spouse and kids. they'd be embarrassed to find out what you really did all day and your sorry excuse for making a living. i'm in the same boat, hard to turn down the $$ but at the same time, this is what i did with my life. maybe just getting old but an att career aint much to look back at

I made the comment. I guess I’m r----ded then. Sorry you can’t see the writing in the wall. Won’t need many techs with OTT. Wont need as many techs with 5g. Won’t need many techs when the gateway repairs itself or is virtualized. Won’t need as many call center folks with fewer customers having issues. (Yeah, some of those layoffs are because of my group doing a good job).

Yes you will always need some techs, some call center folks, and others. You just won’t need as many. Think about it before calling folks r----ded. Watch some of the videos we get sent in our emails.

Not all level 2s are from the tech or store space. It’s a very broad job level.

Obviously us DirecTV folks didn't get that memo about things being slow. We have been on "emergency" status since last December meaning we are required to work a minimum of 10-hour days. For the past 11 weeks, we have been on mandatory 6 day weeks with 12 hour work load between FSTP and WFE - which actually means 14 hours by the time we get back home.

Trust me - both my wife and my dog knows that I am not effing around during the day.

And yes - you AT&T guys s---. Wish you had left us alone so we would still have a life.

Wish I was just sitting around....we had 44 people now we have 13....Same work.....It's a fire sale every day of the week & some week ends too.But that's OK...They just added 13 Employee Development Classes...that are being monitored for compliance.

So no...I don't have to worry about hiding what I do from my wife & kids...they see me at night logging in remote...being "Developed".

No one I know is going the extra mile in our yard, network operations is a joke, half of my crew is made of old timers that report to work and sit all day "light duty" status, "the untouchables" they are called, makes not sense everyone trying to make the company fail

The id--t that said is automating things to get rid of us, is a mo--n, that obviously does not know anything we do, how is the litte robot going to do the house install? dig the cable? Or be a parr of the first responder team after storm? He mention he is a Level2, I am in agreement with that , most of the ones I know are mentally r----ded.

This tread is hilarious, how exactly is CWA going to do that? ROLF, IT IS QUITE THE OPPOSITE , they get rid of junior people, the ones actually doing more with less, more likely less salary, no pension , reduced benefits and paying dues to an organization that has them lined up to be slaugthered. Let the wampy ruse continue

If only the union would let us get rid of all the lazy employees, we’ll get there eventually.

I’ve got enough work to keep the entire group busy the rest of the year. I could be banging away right now and killing it, but I don’t really see the point. It doesn’t do anything for my career advancement. I’m doing more than most while sitting on my hands most of the time.

Most of the work I’m doing will eliminate a lot of you on this board, that’s the truth (I’m just a level 2 btw). My job is to automate things. However, I’m a bit tired of reading about the layoffs. For every dollar I save the company, that’s less people.

When the former SBC introduced MSOC to their technicians, that was the start of the decline in wireline morale. When you shield the lazy and punish the producers what do you expect.

More troublesome is that we send out kids to universities that teach this garbage and then hire them to run off the best people.

Let's face it. Most of us nowadays are not busy, especially in the landline side of things. Some groups have consolidated and are sharing work, so nobody will get laid off yet. They are just delaying the inevitable. The "technical" work in the centers, can easily be done offshore by anyone with a phone, a pc and half a brain. It's just a matter of time till the powers that be realize this.

Omg, you are talking like is 1945. You are funny, no one helps anyone, and we are not valuable, and they will not take care of us. In today's environment, lol

I personally work for a living at T. Is it a dream career? No, but then again my wife and children don't complain about providing a better life than what I used to do. We are slow at times but I truly find what I do as helping people especially when it is hard to navigate through all of the issues that come with being a giant corporation. Just get up and go do your best. That is all T is asking.

p.s. try and be thankful you are not showing up to work with a shovel.
