It is said while this happens - all the mainframe assets are moving to TCS and they will migrate Verizon from legacy main frame to cutting edge open source based cloud capable infrastructure. IBM had no comments on this, however unnamed sources are pointing at risks, challenges and mainframe employee issues as the driving factor as well as the challenge for this move, there is a promise of millions of dollars of saving that is driving this shift away from main frame computing

Breaking news —> Tech Mahindra has usurped the Infosys offer and the move shall now be to Tech Mahindra. C P Gurnani stayed that Tech Mahindra’s Telecom expertise and its demonstrated ability to successfully absorb (merge) large organizations (read Satyam merger) were the key aspects that helped secure this multi million merger-transition.

Well said, very bad higher management. It reflects in the way they are handling this situation. Middle mgmt are just puppets. After layoff and rebranding, middle mgmt will be forced to say that it was a collective decision and motivate those who stay back. And higher management will enjoy watching them bearing the brunt of their foolish decisions.

Where is employee connect now?? Leaders were all gaga over the connect !!! Its missing now a days why???? Scared that they would be questioned and she wouldnt have any answer. Any xompany someday could be rebranded but it has to be graceful. The Leader do not have any integrity or grace thats why so much of chaos in vz india. Its the reflection of the leaders.

Managers and SPMs are not empowered enough only treated as scape goats. All the so called DH and SDH including MD want to showcase themselves and talk to the SW Engrs without keeping their supervisors in loop is the culture. All leadership definitions are thrown out of the window. The leaders onshore or offshore dont excercise what they preach. Whoever is commneting on the quality of mgrs should ensure they never become mgrs spms here cuz you will end up being the same.....puppets. Sick place it has become driven by amma culture

Does VDSI has an IT culture? It's the worst company I have worked. Except few, many of the longtimers should be get rid off.. Managers and SPM are of very poor quality with the exception of few.

Cellular has become a commodity product. All telcos are downsizing. Shifting payroll to an external company would make sense for vz and they need to show something for Hans in his first quartee. I would expect an announcement to come before September 30 (most likely next Thursday). Transition would of course be drawn out to 12 months or longer.

Att has also announced a massive downsizing earlier this week. 15% by Oct and upto 15% more by March in some divisions. Check att thread in the same website.

It's time to update your resumes. Another reduction/ transition is bound to happen before the end of the year. Better to be prepared. Good luck to all. It was fun while it lasted..

I Agree with Kalyani comments.Managers,SPM,DH.. in VDSI don't add any value to the company instead they do micro politics, don't know about latest

technologies but ask us to learn it & it wild be year end target .when ny one ask where to implement it or usage,No answer from them!

Not sure about the authenticity of this thread.

It will not happen over night if it really happens.

Rumors are there for long.

It takes lot time for transition , i had seen the cloud transition that took few months to almost an year after announcement.

Anyways I only the patrol that gets changed to new employer and work remains same.

Y v need managers,SPM,DH,SDH in VDSI? There work is to schedule calls n Manager handles single project n main work is to approve leaves. They get huge pay & work they do is minimal.obviously Infosys will not take such ppl

Everyone needs to chill. A few notes here:

  • They (C level) are looking into options

  • Nothing has been signed

  • It takes many months to organize a transition like this, 30 days will not cut it

  • It will not be a monolith deal, some vertical will stay internal VZ

  • It will not be a single company getting the contract, having a competitor in the mix keeps them on their toes

  • Retention bonuses will be paid

  • No layoffs in short to medium term (12 to 24 months)

Outsourcing to Infosys would be terrible. Service based companies like Cognizant, Infosys, IBM does not have talent pools and they will spoil the Verizon IT culture by all lies and false POC. I would personally say to stay away from service based companies as they just give false promises to clients

I worked in IT (New York) for many years in till I took the offer in 2003. If this is true I'm going back to Cablevision and switching my cell account (3 phones) to T-Mobile. Screw Verizon.
