i dont hate the company. I let FE manage my 401k so i am not heavy in T stock. when I leave, I will take 100 of everything. i am doing financial stuff on the side so I know there are great products out there that will protect me if the market declines as it will. i recommend everyone still having 401k here to hire FE to manage your portfolio, the "cost" is worth it. I wish i had hired them prior to 2008.

Your 401k is only impacted if you have a ton of company stock or stock in general. If you have a 60/65 to 40/35 bond to stock ratio spread through a bunch of different investments near retirement, the market could collapse to 50% and you are only riding out an actual 20% decline in your portfolio. You can ignore that and withdraw at 4% and just let your portfolio correct back up.

If you have nothing but at&t stock and think it is going to be back at $40 a share ... well good luck with that, especially the first time they just freeze the dividend for one year, let alone cut it!

$40/share? lmao. you are dreaming. this will be in the $20s. continual merger strategy keeps the simple minds occupied while it's obvious randy doesn't know how to run a wireless company....reminds me of another att CFO, john zeglis...that buried the original macaw/att wireless into dust when given the reigns

Weather you hate or love ATT/RANDY wishing bad on the company is terrible and callous. First of, if you work for ATT, your 401k is impacted if the market gets hit(the person earlier is correct, pensions are not impacted, for those who have pensions) in addition more people will get laid off. Randy might loose his job and even I that makes you happy, it will be at what cost?

Secondly there is not talk about cutting dividend or no need. Corporate is at its highest rate in over 30 years. T with the takeover of TW is making enough money to paid out the dividend as well paid down the debt. Please before posting understand basic financial accounting.

I personally am waiting for T to hit $40 per a share, so I can completely divest my 401k of T stock, as I have recently left the company and don't want tied to it anymore. For people who hate Randy, T or whatever, be smart. Take your time find a better job or one you will like more and patiently work to move away from ATT.

@nxj pension payout should not be directly impacted by falling stock price. Bonuses will be though. the more important thing is if there is less cash flow due to lower income, ATT contributions will be less. Keep in mind for non bargained employees ATT stopped paying into the cash balance plan from 2015 for new and returning employees. that is/was a huge savings.

I’m curious, for those wishing and applauding the supposed demise of ATT, how will YOUR life be better if ATT fails?

The stock price will be cut if the dividend is cut, but they'll be chucking lots of people out the door before that happens. If the dividend is cut, Stevenson himself will be chucked out the door.

I believe he said the Time Warner acquisition would help the dividend.
