Been hearing about more layoffs coming to Verizon later this month.
Since this didn't come from the most reliable source, I was hoping somebody here would know more about it (and or or hopefully confirmed it is not happening.)

No, those details aren’t necessary. Just any rumor of a general timeframe would be cool. Maybe to find out if more than one person has heard a similar rumor.

Yes!!! Indirect account managers are going to be outsourced! Along with all customer service and tech support reps on the wireless side. IT is also being outsourced to IBM. How do you think this company is going to cut 10 billion dollars in the next 4 years?

I wasn’t asking that it be posted again or asking a generic questions. Saying layoffs are coming is very vague. I thought the point of this board was to provide whatever details or rumors may be available. Of course layoffs are coming. That doesn’t answer when or what channels. @1oaq, if what you say is indeed fact and, further, if they’re planning on holding us captive as a means of retaining our talent and know how, gleaned from years of being in the trenches, there better be one hell of a generous, and well-deserved raise in the offing.
@ivtd I call BS. It is impossible to layoff a Pre 2003 CWA member. A post 2003 member is near impossible to layoff. There are over 8 contractual provisions that need to be met before it is even an option(they include job sharing ,voluntary transfers, removal of contractors, Voluntary leaves, ESIP offers, ISP offers, etc.) The most important being the EISP offer. You would need a situation where each and every one of the surplus reducing steps were taken and after all that there where no EISP takers in the job title before any layoff is possible. The likelihood of all those pieces falling in a way to a layoff is near nil particularly when there are an enormous number of senior people waiting for EISP offers. In fact the company seems afraid to offer EISP due to an uncontrolled exodus. My location is vastly undermanned.
I got laid off today cwa 2004 hire so yes, after 03 hires do get the axe

Just curious if you heard indirect outsourcing from a reliable source or if it was just heard in passing? If so did that same source give you an idea of the timeframe they were looking at?
Most anything involving frontline sales is doomed to outsourcing. They can get resellers do to it for a fraction of what they pay reps now with no store overhead. Only high profile locations in cities like NYC, LA, etc. will have any level of long term hope. The typical 2nd rate town about the country isn't worth the trouble. Online and resellers will more than make up for the efforts of the typical company store. Anyone can sell stuff for the company (I have even seen kids selling under VZ tents at fairs). Selling isn't core to the company's operation. The engineering, buildout and operation of the network is where there will be some semblance of job security.
Layoffs happen all the time they may just not affect you. Its a big company.
It means indirect account managers will be let go and an outside marketing company will replace them with co tractors making a 1/3 of the pay. AT&T did it a year ago and hasn't looked back.
What does that mean - Indirect to be outsourced?
