Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

New CEO Hans Vestberg, about time!

I heard they chose him inspired by new starwars movie, hands solo. Either way, about time! No wonder McAdam seemed like he didn't give a f--- any more.

The hater on this board wishes with all his or her heart for wireline to be dead.

I do not know why this is their hope, but apparently it is.

However, that hoping and wishing for the demise of his or her fellow human does not in any way whatsoever change the fact that areas currently served by in-house wireline are still going to utilizing in-house wireline.

The discussion at hand is not about the "outside the east lagacy (sic) wireline area". I'm concerned with my area, which has traditionally provided the fiber backbone.

1otc, I suspect that, based on your spelling of fiber as fibre, you're a troll checking in from overseas (or else you're a poor stateside speller). Either way, you're full of it troll-boy.

Old mci/WorldCom/xo networks have lots of fiber outside the east lagacy wireline area. Onefiber augmenting where needed also.

@1otc, you understand nothing, and your ignorant comments are hate-driven rather than based upon any logic or fact. Enough already. stop the bs that's rooted more in what you want reality to be, rather than in what the reality staring you dead in the face is.

“...When I think about 5G, fiber is a crucial element for it..."

"...You need central offices because ultimately you are going to have thousands of small data centers that can do things..."

...He is confident the company can build and acquire the fiber it will need...

"Wireline is dead, dead, dead..." -- @jfe

@jfe, keep trying to convince yourself of that.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news (in your world anyway), but it's all driven by fiber optics. And, as luck would have it, fiber optics fall solidly within the realm of the wireline world. So, it would appear,

Wireline remains thriving, thriving, thriving.
