I heard 3 year extension from two different sources. If this is true when do you think they will announce it? Would have been a nice 4th of July announcement.

1paf, you sound so angry. Let’s change of topic. For most of the last 15 years that you’re complaining about, Chris Christie’s been Governor. That’s gotta make you feel pretty darn proud and good. Stop being such a Negative Nellie. You’ll see a contract one day my friend.
Also, everyone’s seniority is an open book universally, in my CWA experience, regardless of local.
I see no reason why all this is not open info in NJ as well. These (the contract language and local-wide seniority positions) are both very basic information you need to be provided in order to function fairly and keep things above board in a Union environment.
I’ve worked in a few CWA Locals in NY and have always gotten a copy of each and every contract though, as stated earlier, about a year or more into the current contract.
As for who’s responsible for printing them, I do not know, but my chief steward normally distributes them.
Here in NJ, we haven’t had a copy of the contract in 15 years. When asked, the union says that the company and union alternate every contract getting them printed....and they each point the finger at the other saying that it’s their turn to get the copies out.
In my garage, there’s tour lists posted at all times. Those lists include the NCSD’s of every person in the garage, as well as what their job function is.
We also have a Local-wide seniority list but, as was said earlier, it’s a bit old so there’s some retired folks who are still listed (but we know who they are anyway, so it’s a moot point).
We also receive a contract copy every time there’s a new one, though the time it takes between ratification and the printing and distribution of those books is excessive.
My Local’s very good about getting all of us a copy of each contract. It takes time, about a year after ratification, but we consistently receive it.
We also have a local-wide seniority list posted in our location. Though many members on it have since retired, it’s easy enough to see where you stand seniority-wise.
Haha! They haven’t printed out a union book in years!! I get the run around every time I ask for one. Can’t even get a seniority list for the garage....and don’t even think about asking for a list for the local....they start grilling you, wanting to know what you want it for. Years ago the union would print out a seniority list for the entire local every couple of years and post it in the garages.

The old contract is set in stone. So it goes from august 2019, and i heard 3 years so we work til aug 2022 at least. The last strike hurt the company and replacement workers were pretty awful. On the other hand the union no longer has Obama to save them so this is beneficial to BOTH sides this time around. 2022 negotiations, however, well the world will look very different in 4 years and alot of uncertainty, so hope many can bail by then.
@auq, Thanks for the info. I'm just wondering, when we hear 2 or 4 year extension does that mean from this years negotiation or from the current contract expiration date of next August? If it's a four year extension from next August's expiration (5 years from now) that is absolutely fantastic news!
They are not finished bargaining. They agreed to add a few extra days...starting the middle of next week. That is good news because if they needed a couple more days, they must be close on settling. BTW, I heard two different rumors on the duration...two year extension and four year extension.
