Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

OMG!!!!

Just found out from a very reliable source that Humana is planning to lay-off 1/2 of the nursing staff and 1/2 of the social workers that are left.

Guess they were right?! The HAH is really being shut-down.

I am guessing the folks that make the cut this time, will get the axe in April.

God bless us all!

Everytime I hear WF say "pivot" all I can picture is an episode of Friends where they are helping Ross carry a couch up a flight of stairs and Ross keeps shouting "Pivot! Pivot!"

The HAH program is being reduced to LTIH2 with rapid progression through telephonic to monitored care. That is a guess on the latter, email confirmed LTIH2. On the BRIGHT side... many of us work for network agencies and our referrals have all but stopped. I am guessing that many like me have secured new jobs. I am sure that will only help the staff that actually work directly for Humana. The area I am in is over saturated with network agencies, it's not sustainable especially now with the LITH2 model. I have had a great time working with Humana member's and have no doubt I will be leaving them in capable hands. Every person that I have come in contact with at Humana for assistance has been really great. I know I was able to make great impact in my member's health and access to community resources. I have reassured them that they will be in good hands with my replacement.

HAH may not be closing but the telephonic division will be very small

I am evil and will rot in hell because I post factual content? OK. Continue on with your mass panic and your doomsday thinking. Let me know how that works out for you. I also want to know how the other poster knows who BB is friends with. How crazy to assume because they are from the same very large state.

@2dyv, so OMG can have reliable sources but anyone who has reliable sources that says something different than them is an evil gossip hound who is destined for hell? OMG is trying to start a panic. 1hlz responded with a logical sounding rebuttal to try and calm that panic, but because you want to see everyone as evil and everything as a conspiracy you act like a fool? Come one, get over yourself. We all know hah is being hit hard for this restructure. There's no need to make it worse by trying to incite mass fear of the entire program closing.

@RtFU3oh-1hlz You must be a fool OMG tells us... It was a VERY RELIABLE source who told them this info. You must be a rotten evil person to come here and spread such lies. Do you really think OMG would come here and say these things just to spread gossip. How evil of you @RtFU3oh-1hlz You will never go to heaven but I will pray for your soul.

There are open positions for PT, OT, Rns to provide care in home.

I can tell you for a fact that Humana at Home or telephonic is not shutting down. That's all I can say for now but more will be discussed after this RIF. This RIF will be significant but is not the end. Program needs to be taken down to bare bones to rebuild

I left the company in 2017 on my own accord because I saw the writing on the wall. Lots of this I believe has to do with the overall health care system not Humana as a whole. Look at the news of health care. Insurance companies are pulling out of exchanges and now we are going to have a new healthcare plan which we know nothing about. So, this is just a companies way of saving their bread and butter. There are jobs out there the pay may not be the same. Live below your means and start a side hustle. It's important the big picture

Honestly, I don't think THEY know if or when it's OVER. They expanded without check, poor management, now it's withering. I wish everyone well, but if you really depend on this job prepare yourself. It's been a rollercoaster for at least 2 years now.

Yeah I agree the physical therapist is going to pivot away from the telephone aspect. Honestly the money is the home not on the phone. Also he’s B.B. friend both are from Texas

To Geez Louise.. I don't think anyone is mongering. I think this is a valid point. The writing is on the wall.... when placing into monitored status I felt as if we were weeding ourselves out of the system. Indeed... it's coming true. The HCMs left will only be " packing up the equipment" for the ones being laid off. The rest will be next. I can see them keeping HCMs in different positions like triage... but us telephonic HCM RN will be a thing of the past. This " physical therapist" taking over... he is the one to really look into. The money they will make will definitely increase with every home visit, every assessment, every band aid used. Take a look at the BIG picture...like the poster before me.. get your head out of the sand.

There are currently 90 teams all with a capacity of 20 nurses per team. If they were at full capacity that would equal 1800 nurses. However, I doubt many are at full capacity any more. My team is down several nurses already. So probably somewhere around 1600 to 1700 total? That's just a guess

Your decision: you either control of it or it will control you. For everyone who lives in fear, get your act together:

Updating resumes, apply, spiff up interviewing skills. Compromise may be necessary - be open to it. Bedside - yes, bad. but so is this uncertainty w Humana that we have been subjected to for months, may be longer. You are as marketable as you make yourself. Healthcare is not going away. I'm out....for now. I am sympathetic but also realistic. All the best to you. Life goes on.....

HAH isn't be shut down, geeze Louise. They are restructuring to reflect company long term goals. Yes, lots of people are being laid off. That does not mean the entire program is being dropped.

Quit fear mongering already.
