Humana uses a bizarre scaling of inconsistent, full or exceptional on the year end reviews. You can be a high performer, but still be inconsistent on your year end.....assuming most of us are full, how many layoffs in the past were of the ones that rated exceptional? Were they laid off? With all things being equal, the policy on RIFs goes into play with issues such as seniority and needed skills, were the inconsistent people part of the RIFs in the past? The exceptionals? If there’s a bell curve of scoring, you’re going to have all three categories....I guess the question is, with prior layoffs, were inconsistent people impacted and exceptional people kept? I understand if coaches can’t respond to this, but, just wondering

The person who made the comment that you were reteamed several times. You must be on my team now because I agree with you, my new coach is vindictive, passive aggressive and anal and she over emphasizes participation in chat and she has her favorites. You are not alone.
@RoIUhuN-2ful You think coaches don't get micromanaged too? You give your coach way too much credit for control they don't have. Any coach who values their job will do what they are told, there is no room for people to make things up as they go along. Of course there is subjective stuff on the evaluations and all of the associate assessments, if not you would complain they were all based on an objective metric that didn't take account of the 'extra' work you do.
Below poster, couldn’t agree more with your comment on no Coach oversight. They do what they want. Humana has empowered them, or their COMS don’t care. Probably both.
Ive been reteamed multiple times. Ive gone from having a coach who felt I was best of the best to a coach who despises me. The quality of my work has not changed. But my yearly review shows a major change. I expect to be in RIF because my current coach is vindictive and plays the favorites game blatantly. So much on that evaluation is subjective. Do you have a positive attitude? Do you participate enough in group chat? Your coach has Much more say than anyone thinks, and they seem to have little or no actual oversight in how they do things.
I guess time will tell. Sounds like we have some favorites and some who are not. Feedback after the RIF will give us more info.......maybe. Good luck everyone!
@2pvn- I am certainly not my coaches favorite and I’m here and one of her favorites was let go last time. Maybe favorites are not really protected, since that is blatant discrimination, and there’s a site on the leadership sharepoint site about doing reviews and how to not play favorites, so it’s not based that. I’m sorry you were laid off, but it may have been for other things, but not the favorites card
@RoIUhuN-2pvn Thank you for posting that. I had a feeling that coaches had more input than we were led to believe, and wondered how HR could possibly determine if favoritism was at play. I'm great at what I do, but I'm not one of the favorites and fully expect to be part of this RIF as a result. I remember looking at reviews for working at Humana before accepting my position and read so much of the same-your coach makes or breaks you. I believe it. Don't get me wrong, my coach is wonderful, but favoritism has been more obvious the last few months and due to my lack of desire to be fake, I pushed myself out the door. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but I am willing to put money on the HCMs on my team who will remain unaffected.
@1pqa...I’m not assuming, that’s why I am asking
I was apart of the November RIF and I dont care who comes on here to say something opposite ..... alot of who was retained was based on favoritism. It didnt have anything to do with pay that is the truth. I know that they will say that HR looked over the information but they are looking at the names only and the scores based on how your leader rated you.. . They dont have the abilty to determine if your leader rated you lower based on favoritism... I know that was the case for a certain department within HAH. They really need a better check and balance system.. So you are really at your leader's mercy and what they think of you.. they hold the cards....
You are assuming end of year review and rif review cover the same areas
Raises are based on work performance and some people were not put in for raises by their coaches because their work performance didn’t merit it, at least with the new system it seems like we are getting cost of living and merit
@RoIUhuN-1izl When we started Humana told us pay awards would be merit based. Maybe others didn't deserve a raise.
HCM RN here. I received one yearly raise for each year that I worked for Humana. I always heard that it didn't happen for all employees and it depended on your coach. Doesn't seem fair that some associates did not receive any raises. I would like to hear from other associates.
how many of the laid off actually had an exceptional rating on their reviews, vs full or inconsistent?
And, people are not laid off for salaries, and within the humana system, you are not able to get 4-5 raises a year...bonuses, awards and things like that, but not raises
That should say lies not kids
Well, I can assure you the last poster is being less than honest! I know for a fact pay is not factored in. I will not say my role and risk divulging who I am, but let's just say I am in a position to know. Not to mention the fact that anyone above the poster would not tell an associate why they were RIFd or they could potentially lose their job. Stop with the kids about being let go due to pay. Those who feel they were exceptional were not in some way or another. Some coaches were very lax with giving raises. Certainly, by no means, indicates you were exceptional!
I was layed off last go around. My productivity was high all reviews were exceptional I had worked for Humana for nine years and was making over $70,000 a year no FMLA leave and in the early days of the program when Humana use to reward you for going over and beyond I would get 4 -5 raises a year so feel I was exceptional. I was told I was let go due to making a high salary Guess old BB felt he needed to make more than a $19 million dollar bonus and this is the fastest way to ensure more for the fat cats. Good luck everyone and don’t wait start looking now. They will
I would like to hear from others too.
