Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Written up for nothing

I was written up for the smallest infraction last week, as was one of my coworkers. I'm talking unsubstantiated customer complaints, something that was never even considers as a write up before.

Does anybody know what this is all about? They want to fire us instead of laying us off to save money? If this is true, does anybody know if we have any legal recourse in this situation?

They can’t just coach. There needs to be a reason, so obviously there was a reason. You shouldn’t have signed if you didn’t agree, unless it was your first coaching you are not required to sign.

Managers don’t know about what’s going to happen for sure or else we all know because it would have for sure leaked.

You can always open door it which I suggest you do since you don’t agree.

@igx I agree - something does not add up here.

I doubt that they would coach without reason (justified or not - there has to be a reason - sometimes reasons are flawed or corrupt, but they are still reasons)

There is something else happening here, and we do not know what.

I’m a TL and I’ve been in on coachings with a associate who has had several compliments she was coached. In our case with this associate we observed her we just didn’t take the members word. I’m so sorry that you feel like your be pushed out. Our club is very lucky to have a GM that actually cares for his associates, that is what true leadership is. If it continues to happen try and go outside of the club or the integrity hotline.

I've seen things like this happen before, every time there is a hidden agenda (they do not appreciate you or your work) - be careful, this is negative signal and you may want to start looking. I am not saying they'll cut you, but it's a negative signal and I am sure that as long as you have the same mgmt, you will not enjoy working here.

they’ve actually made it clear with mgrs. their job is more on the line than that. sam’s aka giselle/ john wants more mgrs out and bring in the new young mit that works for peanuts and knows nothing. cheaper to fire than pay layoff. could be true with hourly especially a TL or whoever may have a job about to go away. don’t give them any opportunity to coach.
