Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Costco WILL hire former Sam's Club employees

I'm really sick and tired of people posting blatantly untrue things to mess with people when their entire livelihood is on the line.

Those saying that Costco will not hire former Sam's Club or Walmart employees are lying. Simple as that. I know of at least three people who left our Sam's Club to work for Costco just in the past year.

So if you see an ad for Costco job opening in your area, go for it! Don't let a few internet trolls with nothing better to do ruin your chances at a job.

I was hired at Costco but couldn't work for Walmart after my hired date. I think when they open a new Costco they may have a different approach to hiring Walmart employees to avoid butting heads with Walmart. But with an established warehouse I dont think it matters.

Good information. I wasn't looking at management, just floor associates. If you work hard you should get a decent wage. COSs at Sam's Club are in line for $15-$18 an hour. I know Costco employees making $30 an hour after 15-20 years. I'd pick the latter if I wasn't retired now.

I was always told that you have to be un-employed by Sam's for 6 month's before Costco will hire you.

@1whv 'non compete clauses' are not enforceable in many states... that will get them nowhere...

It would depend on what is in the severance packet. They can easily have a stipulation that you can't work for a competitor because you are still on the payroll and you can't work for a direct competitor anyways.

Just Fyi.. worked for sams 22 years.. took severance when my produce lead was eliminated. Costco hired me as part time as they do everyone at first. Great place to work, but, plan on a part time wage for a year.

You cannot apply as long as you are continuing to receive pay from sams. You will lose your severance. Read your package
