I think the Alaska clubs were good clubs weren’t they?

Did any of these clubs have any noise about unions. I heard that some of the clubs they closed were some of the top selling clubs in the company.

I haven’t seen ANY older people hired recently in my area. The age discrimination is getting out of control.

Our club discriminates! They seem to only hire people ages 18-35. The only time they hire older is for door greeter or maintenance positions. Our Club allows the TL over front end to do most of the hiring as this person also does the schedules.

Last year in 2017 when Walmart laid off 1000+ corporate associates, they also announced adding 10K US jobs to the stores.

This year when Walmart is laying of 1000+, they are announcing raises and bonuses for hourlies.

All of these announcements are well planned to cover up the lay offs.

How about reporting on the fact that if you take a job with Walmart, you can’t change jobs within the company for three years?

Here is something to report on.

At home office, there are different color badges that signify different lengths of tenure with the company. And it used to be that having long tenure with the company was a good thing.

But now a lot of people I know are convinced that tenured people are being targeted in these layoffs. People are actively trying to avoid getting their badge updated if it will be a different color indicating longer tenure. Nobody wants to remind their boss that they may have been with the company a long time for fear of getting caught in the next layoff. Those gold and silver badges are like putting on a bullseye. They’re a liability when you’re desperately trying to stay employed.

CNN has nothing to do with it.

They’ve been laying off steadily for two or three years now. But it’s been almost completely absent from the news. I think Walmart’s PR group has worked with news outlets to keep this out of the news.

Here is the real kicker. They keep firing people (because let’s call these layoffs what they are) but the SG&A is going up? Where is the money being spent? Where is it going!? And why is there no discussion about this in Bentonville?

Also all these systems they are rolling out to replace people are NOT working. They do NOT work. It’s a matter of time until this blows up in someone’s face. What a mess!

I don’t think Fox would ever run a negative story on Walmart. That network is Pro-corporate aren’t they?

@RbaNjYE-1dod - Fox? Seriously? And as far as the fake news what is there to "fake"? It's happened and there isn't anything fake about it.

Interesting. It seems there are people that are paranoid that employees might start talking to the media.

Nothings flubs up a PR campaign like the truth coming out.

CNN liberal media of lies who twist facts nothing more then fake news. Better off talking to Fox News or some other reliable news media.

Don’t tell anything to CNN. They make up news and don’t tell the truth. Most of what they report is fake.

You do realize that the news about the raises was released at this time to stifle reports about all the layoffs?

And this is supposedly the tip of the iceberg. Rumors are that they will be laying off in Bentonville the rest of the month.

Ben,

With the number of people in Bentonville that have been laid off, you could break several very interesting stories about Walmart right about now.

Age discrimination in these firings/layoffs

Ethics violations

Walmart’s quarterly layoffs that have been going on for two years or so now

Walmart’s treatment of its workers under the new rank and yank program

Walmart’s recent treatment of suppliers

Walmart being mostly non diverse in its tip top leadership again

H1b visa abuse in Walmart’s tech sector/systematic offshoring of Jobs

Decline of company culture due to obsession with catching Amazon

I would be willing to bet that you could get good stories out of any of these topics. And people are upset enough to spill ALL the beans.

How is it that the headlines from most TV News is that Sam’s Club is giving $1000.00 bonus to all it’s workers? How about you report the truth and tell us that Sam’s is closing 60+ stores locations and the bonus is a structured base bonus on years worked and give the breakdown on said structure? 2-4 years you get $250 and so on and so forth. You have to have 20 years of working with Sam’s to get the $1000.00 bonus. Sad that most are stating how all workers are getting a $1000.00 bonus.

Benjamin - my suggestion - leave your contact info here (there you will find folks who are inclined to talk about the closures openly):
