Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Should I take Job offer at Citrix

I got a job offer for req R10450 in Raleigh and based on all the posts here am wondering if I should take the job .

I’m very disturbed to hear these things and wonder if Citrix is the most stable company in the area or should I just keep looking.

Also, the pay offered is marginal for the area so I think they are lowballing me.

The original post sounds legit.

Good luck to the @OP

Good choice to the original @OP

I think it was a genuine post. Too bad the Citrix people have grown so cynical lately.

Agreed, good choice to look elsewhere. It was going to be just a matter of time until your role was moved to India or China. There is a ton of pressure on managers within Citrix right now to hire in (what is perceived to be) lower cost locations, such as India, China, and Costa Rica. I have seen really good, experienced US people fired in order to move those roles offshore. These moves haven't worked out very well for customers, as anyone who has recently tried to get in touch with the support teams for ShareFile, RightSignature, or Podio can attest. I suppose this is the result of having a CFO as CEO.

You made a good choice. I don't think the OP is trolling.

@7sgj, agreed, the company needs to provide better skills and people support in this transition period in doing their jobs. I fear we are all at a skills breaking point with no assistance from the ELT on helping us do our jobs as we transition from a shrink wrapped on-premise software company to a software as a service subscription company.

@7esc yup. Many teams are understaffed and under training and its causing a breakdown of systems and processes across the company. It's getting worse as those who are left have mentally checked out. People need a positive stimulus. You can't squeeze forever.

@2mxg you hit the nail on the head. Citrix ELT are using this forum for company temperament than direct feedback from employees.

People want a Trump tax plan bonus, they want a health plan with lower premiums and lower co-pays for doctor visits, they want more skills training to do their jobs better and most importantly they want small feedback sessions to execs.

None of these things are happening in the company since the ELT is sequestering themselves in Fort Lauderdale .

@7hhj all chill here buddy. Light as a feather. Merely trying to stay on topic for the folks who come here asking for advice. The facts speak for themselves.

My friend I was on your side, and tried making it light for you. You are now proving @7znb @7uiu right. The world as you see is your perception or lack of it. Chill mate.

@7yhm what are you talking about? You keep trying to "corner" me but it won't change the fact that citrix is outsourcing, and now is not the best time to join the company.

Insulting me only proves that you have nothing constructive to say, and that what I'm saying is true.

Loving this thread. Come up with some thing @7fom. You are cornered. You may want to write in the other two languages you are fluent in to gain the edge.

LOL. Nice one @7znb. This “smart”a$$ole also figured out the my gender (“he?”) , my role (“management?”) and your geo (“bangalore”). I know at least 2 of the interpretation is incorrect. Lack of self awareness by “smart”a$$ole.

@7znb you seem triggered. Just to be clear, I’m not a professional translator, but I am fluent in three languages. I value my intelligence and what I see in the office every day over the lies management tells us.

In this moment, I am euphoric. Not because of any phony manager's blessing. But because I am enlightened by my intelligence.

Glad that you made sense and interpreted something, but I have doubts of your claim of you being ‘very smart’. You are way off.

And were you the one talking about difference of opinion to @2uzn? What happened now with you?

BLR team members learnt atleast two languages. You can not even claim that ‘smartass’.

@7tie did you have a stroke while typing that? It barely made any sense. But I am very smart so I understood you, I've gotten used to interpreting our bangalore team.

Please see post @2mxg to which I am referring. @2uzn left what he no doubt thought was a witty comeback that only proved my point.

Do try to keep up. I know English as a second language can be hard, just try your best.

@2uzn do you work at Citrix? If so you are being a great example of a reason to NOT work there. Insulting someone for voicing an opinion you disagree with? You must be in management.

Another a$$**** (or in most likelyhood the same one) trying to play smart.

@2klp please do not mislead the op. while there is some discontent of these forums (it's the nature of the audience) I have not seen anyone post anything that I have not seen myself. In fact, the reason why this forum has become so popular in recent months is BECAUSE we say what management does not. ELT and management have decided Citrix is more about squeezing dollars out of every person and not attracting, developing, and retaining the best talent.

Asking management about the concerns in this thread will only signal that op is smart enough to look for a second opinion, and most managers don't like employees who second guess the chain of command. Asking a team member is 50/50- they are either following the threads too, in which case they are saying the same things I'm saying, or they rat you out to management to gain favor to get promoted out of whatever dead end job they are stuck in.

@op there ARE some really smart people at Citrix. There are fewer, but still some, great managers. You may join a great team, and do good work for months or even years. But as a broader organization, you will hit a wall. You will get passed over for promotion if you speak out, you won't get funding, you will do more work with India and have a harder time because of it, and if you are smart management will ride your a-- so they look good until you burn out and quit, as is happening at all levels in Raleigh.

If you go in, go in with both eyes open.

Agree there are some a$$holes like what you see in this thread at Citrix, but generally the team is talented. You would generally get pessimists in these forums, who don’t do any work, are incompetent and try spreading negativity and discouragement just to secure their own job.

You should reach out to your hiring manager and team member if you are genuinely interested.

Take it and ride it out for the hell of it. Raleigh is a dying location for most departments. You’ll have maybe a year or so before the company has more cuts to make up for all of its failures. Worst run company I have ever worked for. I’m just waiting to be laid off so I can collect some severance as I skip out the door. They also pay pennies to most companies locally so if you can find an offer do so while you sit at your desk like most of us and do minimal work for praise. The company isn’t exactly a trending place that gets you any resume recognition anymore either. Better options on every corner.

Since Citrix already knows you posted here given the req# and that you have an offer, I would decline. Be careful next time.

Same thing in Santa Clara, only Indians with indian managers are getting promotions on April 1st cycle.

If it's a dev position on coffee, run, everything is going to salesforce. Intranet/sharefile? Maybe another year while it gets ported over to workspace cloud (assuming you are the dev doing the porting). Also, are you Indian? The only guys getting promoted on dev are the Indian guys with Indian managers. Also as more dev projects get outsourced to India you'll be working with more Indian devs so you should just be ready.

That req is an engineering position. I doubt they will rescind the offer at this point and the most recent layoff in October was the worse hit to morale the location has ever had. Its not really a secret it happened and most people here are resentful of what management is doing. It's all short term motivation and should be evident as they've had four CEOs in under two years.

If it's on ShareFile, Coffee, or Intranet, you should be okay for a little while. If it's related to Podio or RightSignature, find something else fast.

Idk what that req is for. If it's smb sales run, no future. Smb support, run, no future. Anything related to sharefile (including product management or dev or marketing). Run, no future. If it has to do with "workspace cloud" or "enterprise" you have about 2 years before they realize their new sales strategy is tanking. Then they'll be on to the next thing (after more "restructuring"). Assuming Citrix doesn't get bought put first.

Why would you call out the Req number? might as well just have signed your name and told your potential new employer that you arent really sure about this job - I would look for another.
