Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Received a letter about open positions after layoffs

I was part of riff in Jan '18 and last week I received a letter asking me if I am interested in applying for open positions. Is it a standard practice that we receive such kind of letters from HR

One of my friends who got laid off last fall was really trying to get back in. He was told when laid off that the people laid off would get preference for open positions. He applied to many open positions on the external web site. Got no responses. Candidates can't see hiring managers for positions from the external site, so he asked me to look up the hiring mgrs. He knew some of them and called them and found out HR was not even forwarding his resume to the hiring mgrs! So he changed his resume, and actually changed his LinkedIn page, to make it look like he was working for Qualcomm for a couple yrs (so the HR people couldn't tell he was a laid off employee). Then his resume started getting forwarded. He concluded that HR had instructions (at least at that time) to not forward laid off people's resumes. He did then get a couple calls for interviews...but in the meantime got a good offer from Workday, at significantly higher comp than he was getting from Oracle, and jumped on it.

Oracle RH absolutely s---s! Unfortunately I have to deal with them. They are miserable bad. They get lost all the time with basic questions and processes ... Instead of laying off great engineers, talented engineers. They should be the first one to be laid off.

Yes, I would take 1 million dollars for 1 year of work as well. Why wouldn’t you?

Legally they need to offer recently laid off people the opportunity to apply to open positions.

They come up with reasons to take back commissions paid all the time. This severance is very similar. Oracle is Nicole and dimining employees bc that’s how truly bad things are ... that and the fact that the goblins are running oracles and gringots bank. They are the perfect stereotype of the goblins.

Paying back severance is standard. You are lucky to be working. If you don’t care for the deal then don’t take it.

Wouldn’t take oracles money if they offered me $1 million and I only had to stay one year. I would say no...

Speak for yourself. I would say yes to a $1million for 1 year deal. Maybe it will help me understand how those ball players feel. :-)

Move on. We all are tooo.

Wouldn’t take oracles money if they offered me $1 million and I only had to stay one year. I would say no. Why? Because: integrity, I have it.

Oracle is an ongoing crime scene and sheister organization. Conning others and demoralizing employees is their game. They buy up good companies and technology and use them for their good name and customer base and then they destroy them. Siebel. peoplesoft. BlueKai, ATG, rightNow, big machines, SUN, tekelek etc etc .

When I left (voluntarily) there was a question on the separation form "would you consider working for Oracle again?". I checked no, as "hell no" was not an option. I suspect that if you answered yes you might get such offers.

Paying back severance to Oracle only applies if you sign back on with Oracle. If you are fortunate enough to get a job the day you are walked out the door, it's all YOURS!! You owe them nothing - nada.

If anyone is considering this, you must pay back any unused severance with the exception of 2 weeks.

Is this true only for re-employment at Oracle or if you re-gain employment within that severance period? I thought it was the latter.

I also received one this week. Frankly, reapplying back to the company that blindsided me with a layoff doesn't make me want to go back to them. If anyone is considering this, you must pay back any unused severance with the exception of 2 weeks. That is, if you worked 12 years for Oracle, and stayed out for just 4 weeks, you must pay back 6 weeks of pay (8 weeks unused- 2 weeks you can keep).

May depend on your skills and other factors. Not everyone gets such a letter.
