Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

This is not a bonus!

I really wish people would quit saying it's a "bonus." it's not a freaking bonus! IF (AND THAT'S A BIG IF) , you get that pay out it's in place of your yearly pay rate increase. You're not getting a bonus, you're getting screwed. Because your base pay is artificially lowered from now on. That means when raises are given in 2019, if you get one at all, It'll be LESS than it should have been because of that not-a-bonus check.

Although, that's probably all moot anyway, because the standards you were expected to meet this year for budgeting to get approved for it were nearly impossible. So most roles won't be getting the one time pay out either.

Exactly this! Please don't fall for Humana's semantic gymnastics. We are not getting rewarded, we are getting robbed. I'm so sick and tired of this company...

Absolutely avway for Humana to screw associates. Taxed like a bonus and the next raise in 2020 will be based on that lower amount. Dirty deal from inhumana.

I call it a bonus only because the administration obviously knew they were getting rid of many more staff in HAH who would not be here to earn a 2018 pay raise. They couldn't give that advance raise to some associates and not others without tipping their hand, so they gave it to everyone who had not already been RIF'd. I'm a PHC and I know I'm gone this week. I consider that money a little extra bonus to my severance now.

@QoRnR4e-1cesw there are 300 PHC's who won't be getting any more pay raises. Lets show some empathy here.

Technically you are not getting screwed because you are getting your whole year pay raise in Jan. If you decide to leave your job in March you were paid before you worked for the money. You don’t have to give it back. The purpose of doing it this way is so the company can go to pay raises in Jan every year.

Yes if this is a one time payment then they don't have to pay more into your 401(k) because your income technically has not increased
