I have read several posts on these threads where people imply if you are laid off after January 2018, you would get no severance. why are these comments being said? I doubt that Humana would change their severance package after so many layoffs this year but wanted to see if there was any validity to these posts.

@7xhf. This announcement is far from new and does not signal doom for us. The government screwed us over with the ACA. Humana is suing the government to get their money back. Obviously you didn't really read the article! Also, when the merger failed with Aetna, Humana announced they were still in a position to be sold...again old news. HAH is not disolving. That is a rumor started on here that has spiraled. I have been told that the plans are to continue with HAH but on a smaller scale. The problem was it grew too big too fast and was not sustainable as such. It was not developed in the beginning with good future business sense. In every business it is important to re-evaluate and redesign business segments every few years. What works today may not work 2 years from now depending on the market and changes in regulations.
The ACA screwed over every health insurance company. And yes, it does affect our line as Medicare is part of the ACA and allowed many more to qualify for it. The problem lies in the disproportionate amount of very sick to healthy. We don't know the future as the current government can't come up with a replacement quick enough. The entire ACA will crumble soon before a fix is in place.
7xhf....cool your jets, this is “old news”....no changes until after open enrollment and they see what the numbers are
Humana is not doomed. They are making money they are just dissolving the HAH program
Why did I not see this before? Guys, we are doomed, Humana is DOOMED! We are soooooo screwed. This is me being positive. Not good at all. Check this article out. Yup. We are all screwed.

Very very screwed! Game over. Thank God I have a positive attitude. :)
Someone needs to get a point of contact. All the promises of working all of these extra free hours for Humana to ensure the security of the Program were lies. They stole from us. They stole from the government. They stole from our members. This is sooooo bad.
Yes, I was also in that meeting early this year when we were told no more 2017 layoffs. Also was told HAH was cut enough after that September Hi article, and not to worry.
Unlike last poster, I haven’t been in any meetings where anything positive has been promised for 2018, just that they would “reanalyze” the numbers after open enrollment and decide from there.
I’m someone who prefers that my employer be as candid as possible with me, even if the news is bad.
The messages about us being safe, being decimated enough, etc - those were unnecessary and ended up being false. What exactly were the intentions behind the false reassurances? I don’t know and I am not mad at anyone, however I’m definitely at a point where nothing leadership says means anything any more.
Same here. We were told after the last RIF that there would be no more the rest of this year. Maybe leadership has misinterpreted what was said? But I know what my team was told, and we were told the same as other posters here. We were actually told things look really good for 2018 for us. Maybe she meant her and Humana??
Totally agree with QjhGvqH-1jkd and QjhGvqH-1cmz. My team was assured by three leaders up the chain of command: No more layoffs for HAH, even after the announcement on the main Hi site in Sept. You have to realize that there are several Regional directors overseeing several COMs, overseeing several coaches, overseeing several front line staff. The room for mistaken messages (or downright lies!) across the same department is enormous. It's not helpful to blame the victims because someone on another team wasn't told the same thing you were told.
Unless Humana completely closes its doors there will be a severance package. I also agree with the poster that stated never have we been told there will be no more lay offs. What my leader has said is she is not aware af any more, or there are no more plans at this time.
Below poster is correct, PHC’s were assured multiple times. Including after the Hi article warning of upcoming RIF. Many PHC’s were told not to worry, “HAH had been decimated enough.”
JR has since apologized for assuring PHC’s no more layoffs earlier in the year, but it did happen.
Whether or not your leader said something similar, and regardless of whether you never heard something similar in a meeting, does not mean it didn’t happen.
@QjhGvqH-1cmz I was trying to show why this is not happening but I agree with what you wrote. There was a call for PHC's where people were told "No more Layoff's in 2017". there were hundreds of people on that call. That was after the second RIF.
Welcome back sunshine
You are not very bright are you? They are not changing severance for 2018. Policy remains in place. It would take a lot to go and change that existing policy. I was never once told no more layoffs. Never heard a leader utter those words. I doubt you did. You just chose to misinterpret their carefully chosen words. Upper management left the door wide open with how they phrased things.
Poster below..."they are NOT" changing their severance packages???" Just like there would be no more layoffs stated many times throughout the year? And like I was told in my department, there is more than enough work for all of us to do, and they are not filling open positions to make sure we are safe?? Maybe they aren't changing things, maybe they are...if we have learned one thing from this last year is you can never trust what you are told here.
I think other references were just "what if" scenarios. Like, its better to get Rif'ed now even at the holidays than be safe only to be Rif'ed in January when they MAY not offer severance that time around. I read those posts too.
They ARE NOT changing their severance packages
The recent changes in Benefits have been largely positive. A change of this type would be a negative and undo all of the 'good messaging' around that. They would need to inform all associates who work here since that has to be part of the employment agreement. They don't need our consent but they would need to inform. There is something in contract law which says they can't just ignore the policies they create, they have to be signed off by some authority.
I honestly thinks folks are just nervous, justifiably so, and worried about what’s to come. I don’t think there is any basis for the concern at this point.
Of course, when you hear there will be more layoffs in 2018, even if we don’t know what roles or even what area of the company will be impacted, people are bound to worry.
