Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T-Time Warner Merger

Michael B. McCallister and Beth E. Mooney are expressing their interest to other AT&T board members to hold a vote to remove Randall as Chairman and CEO of AT&T if the Time Warner deal doesn’t close. The board has become increasingly frustrated with his lack of leadership up to and after the failed T-Mobile deal. I will guarantee you that Randall will not see 2020 himself if this deal doesn’t close. Rumor is a vote would be held 1Q2018 to remove and replace him. If removed we’d likely see Donovan as interim CEO but he has privately expressed interest to become the CEO.

As a Second line Manager I too see the decline and the increased focus on numbers and not true Company performance. Sadly I think w/all companies that are publicly traded this is the case and in today's environment to be expected.

I just wish that from the fourth level and above they would recognize that threatening and lying to employees does not a business plan make.

We are not the enemy...Do not hire me as a Manager and then treat me like an hourly task driven employee with repetitive task.

@1csc: OP (original poster) here. I cannot provide a source for this information; can only say my source is solid. I don’t expect people here to believe me because there’s a lot of trolling it appears on this board but you’ll see quick movement if the deal isn’t finalized or on track to finalization by the end of this year. The board is privately becoming very frustrated with both the performance of our stock and our corporate goals.

What's the source of this information? I've been amazed that he wasn't fired after the failed T-Mobile merger. The ramifications of that failed merger was far more than $4B. It was more like $14B because the cash and spectrum revived them from the dead and turned them into a viable competitor.

Dumping Randy would be the smartest move they have made in years, he has ruined a great company.

Hey Randy. Who is gonna buy your Air Gig sh--, when you don't give a phuck about your existing legacy customers? Just go away cat in a hat. Grinch. You look a fool. You blew the T-mobile deal, and lost 4 BILLION. Then you lost out to Verizon on wireless spectrum. Now you are on the verge of losing Time-Warner. Go away you fool. You lost 4 billion. I lost my pager one time, you would have thought it was the end of the world.

Same sorry story in Southeast. I left after 10 years. Life is too short. This company needs to go. I feel sorry for techs and customers. They all deserve better, but I don't see it until AT&T is gone.

Yes. I was definitely proud to have that Southwestern Bell van in my driveway. Proud to wear the shirts. Loved going to work everyday. Now, I am very hesitant to tell people who I work for. When I tell them, it is always a horror story about their personal experience(s) with AT&T. I had my hardhat in my car one time and was getting some assistance loading something I just purchased into my car. The store employee saw my ATT hardhat, and went on and on for about ten minutes describing his service issues that never have gotten resolved. I have family members that are AT&T customers that call me and tell me about their poor service, missed dispatches etc. Even my lawyer asked me "What the hell is going on with At&T?" Ongoing issues for MONTHS with his DSL and POTS. I told him, "Well, AT&T is heading in a new direction, and the services that you have, are no longer a priority".

Yes. The great days of Southwestern Bell under Mr Whitaker. As a Datacomm technician, it was all about "Taking ownership" of your customer project, and doing whatever it took to get it right the first time. Under Randall, it is nothing but making "Numbers". The dirty truth about MSOC, is that you can make your numbers and look good on a spreadsheet, and at the same time provide poor customer service while getting virtually nothing really accomplished. I said the same thing to my area manager, and he actually agreed with me. Randall's regime drive bad behavior. It is human nature not to want to be hammered with freakin numbers every day. So you cut corners on the job, just to make your numbers and keep your first line off your back. Some of the worst technicians know how to manipulate, and look the best on the spreadsheet. We are penalized for performing excellent customer service. "Customer Service week" makes me want to puke every year when it comes around. They preach one thing, and make you practice another. YES. I would LOVE to see Randy go.....

Little Randy needs to go! Many of us that are still around from the Southwestern Bell days(Ed Whitaker) were proud of our occupations and our customers were happy. These days not the case. I fully expect that anyone reading this would concur, be it employees, stockholders or both.....Randy must go if if our once great company is to survive and succeed.
