Excellent!! Mercury News. Keep spreading the news!!. I was laid off back in June after 15+ years at Oracle only. They hate bad news about layoffs. They will spread fake news about 5000+ hires to target the cloud. This is BS. I have been actively interviewing. It's a real eye opener after drinking the Oracle Kool-Aid for many years. None of the major cloud companies consider Oracle a threat. It's Amazon, MS, Google, SF.com and others. They don't a bit scared about Oracle..........
"When Oracle bought Sun Microsystems, Sun was primarily a workstation company.”
Where does TMN find these idiots?!
To be fair, that wasn't the reporter's words. It was a quote from Tim Bajarin, "principal analyst with Campbell-based Creative Strategies."
On the other hand, the reporter should have followed up with a question or two at that point. Such as, "Dude, were you dropped on your head as a child? Were there tasty, tasty paint chips?"

It's known as the Murky News for a reason
The Mercury is irrelevant and is almost comical how off they are on anything tech.
El Reg beat them on this for four full days - they published on Thursday. And all of this was happening right in Mercury's backyard - you'd think that a call or two would take care of this major event in tech (and it was a major one indeed)...
And they quote some moron analyst who thinks that oracle is on 'pole' position in the cloud. OMG, where do they find imbeciles like that!
Weak article - they are in the middle of the Valley, should have more info.
