Uber Reportedly Looks to Hewlett Packard Enterprises’ Meg Whitman in CEO Search

"Uber Reportedly Looks to Hewlett Packard Enterprises’ Meg Whitman in CEO Search"

I was thinking, really? Does Uber really want someone who is a master at decimating jobs and destroying employee morale by constant cost cutting?

If that selection goes through, I think the good days for employees at Uber e is over.

@6pfs:

I need to correct you. She already left HP as its CEO. She continues as CEO at HPE. Sad for hpe and its rank and file employees. She says her mission is unfinished. Most people mean what that means. More layoffs and more cost cutting ........Duh!

@1ukb:

It is deep Technology at the core of Uber. You are just looking at the front end which is the front end of the business . Uber is totally a technology company at the back end of the business.

She's too old and doesn't have the transportation experience as Uber isn't a technology company but a car share service.

: @OsGyMUM-prc, well put it!! Imagine all leadership denied responsibility after 5 years being on the job? Meg was supposed to "right" the ship. Other "leaders" in the tech industry all agreed she is clueless to drive technology strategy..

All she has to do is decree a policy that all HPE employees must use Uber for any travel, business, getting to the office etc.. She then walks out the door to Uber and will be position to claim (after her first 6 months) that Uber revenue is up 15% and she can claim success and move on again before any new HPE CEO can change the policy.

I hate the be the voice of reality here but Meg is not the reason for HP's woes<<

Couldn't disagree more. Meg's 5 year turnaround plan failed. She and the others went on a spree to build an everything to everyone style corporation. Hardware, Software, Networking, Services, Consulting, Financial, Security, PC's/Printers, Cloud...yada yada.

They built an almost 110 billion dollar behemoth. They then began dismantling it piece by piece...all the while aquiring other buisnesses. Most I know would tell ya if asked, what is the direction/strategy of the company....they'd all look at'cha and scratch their heads.

It was the leadership that drove this company into the ground. Plain and simple.

If Meg gets a WFR, she could pick up some extra $$$ on the way out. You Go Girl!

I hate the be the voice of reality here but Meg is not the reason for HP's woes. HP had problems before she showed up and will have them after she is gone. HP has been laying people off for over a decade with no end in sight.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-25/uber-s-new-ceo-short-list-is-said-to-include-hpe-s-meg-whitman

“As Meg has said several times before, she is fully committed to HPE and plans to stay with the company until her work is done,” Howard Clabo, a spokesman for HPE, wrote in an email.

Until her work is done means whenever she decides to say her work is done. Crappy response. Granny Meg unfit to lead a company like Uber. Retire into the abyss already!
