Intelligent capital being thrown away

Based from info I see, this is my conclusion. Oracle bets everything on the cloud business.

Based from info I see, this is my conclusion. Oracle bets everything on the cloud business.

FS1 is the hardware to use for it. ( internal to provide cloud services to customers). ZFSSA, Solaris and Sparc are dead. Skeleton groups will be kept to fulfil customer support obligations, that's it.

Big company mergers never work out, having been in a couple of them, it always seems to end with culling the product(s) from the company being taken over ( Sun in this case) and as result, in the end , people being made redundant on a massive scale.

Very said to see so much intelligent capital being thrown way.

Posted as a reply on another thread ( @OAdcN8q-qpd). Explains a lot.

Love the way you put it. Layoff.com needs a like/upvote button.

You must be one of them who blames everyone else apart from themselves. Always the victim eh ? Time to look in the mirror.

-uu1 : Your assessment is wrong. The VP and Sr Directors never asked their teams to shape up and should be fist one to take blame on theirself. , so -1hb is from Sales, who has faced angry customers.

-1hb : I agree with your comments, except one thing : entire team of NCGs and 20+ year veterans cannot be bad and slackers, we are talking of 1000s of engineers across different Geo's - many of which wanted / want to next Zukerberg. The bugs bucket was 1000s, and leadership failed to provide direction, and current leadership that is left behind are the ones who have managed to keep their bosses happy over last few years, and they will continue to "drive the bus". Laying off these teams do not get my sympathy , but blame needs to be apportioned where it belongs. Perhaps this post will help you understand my point : https://www.thelayoff.com/t/LTDrdrD

Baloney. Don't be such a jerk. Some very good engineering talent was let go today. Don't worry. Your day will come, too. Karma

What a lovely person you clearly are. Hopefully you'll get canned soon too.

Pretending like these teams were not given plenty of warning is a joke. They should all be grateful to be getting severance since most should be terminated for cause. This action is exactly what a company should do when these teams were given years to update and clear out bugs and tickets and failed to do so . Good riddance to you all. Go slack / hide somewhere else . Buh bye.
