Safra Catz Co-CEO of Oracle Cashes out amidst Rumors of biggest reorg (layoff) in 10 years at Oracle

Safra Catz the CO CEO of Oracle, just dumped 90% of her stock in Oracle in the past two months. On 03/21/2017 she sold 3,000,000 shares of her 3,461,860 total shares owned. That dropped her to 461,860 and then she sold another 103,520 shares on 4/26/2017. Safra just cashed out. She won't say it publicly, but these number suggest she is done with owning Oracle. She sold 3.1 million shares of stock for roughly about 65 million.

This comes amidst rumors of the biggest reorg (layoff) Oracle has seen in the past 10 years. Oracle's move to the cloud has apparently met a point where the old seasoned sales force is not perceived as effective at selling cloud. Rumor has it that two thirds of the sales force will be reduced after Q4 this summer. The biggest cuts come to the sales reps which will no longer requires the individual pillars. It will now be one rep per customer. Similar cuts are rumored to take place in the Pillar Sales Engineering Organizations. Sales Engineers will be let go and replaced by one Oracle ECA and remote support from SEs in India for cloud based POCs.

The one rep will be supported by one Enterprise Cloud Architect (ECA). The current ECA group of Sales Engineers (who came from the pillars) are undergoing a review board process after receiving internal training in which only 30% are expected to remain. Rumor has it that Oracle is planing on replacing the majority of the current ECAs with Solution Architects from AWS and Google.

On premise sales will be handled by Oracle Digital / Oracle Direct with new recruits at a much lower salary (about half) than the current seasoned sales reps.

@2hgs - so, it's about a million per day - assuming a 10 hour workday, that's about 100K per hour. or, about 1.66K per minute. it's $277 per second. not bad... she'd make my mortgage payment in about two minutes...

check the proxy statement from 2016. SC owns 31MM shares of Oracle worth over $1.3BB. Those sales are option exercise transactions that were automatically programmed. Still, she made over $90M over the last three months. Not bad.

All of which raises a simple question: why doesn't the oracle CEO own a significant chunk of oracle stock? She doesn't think that oracle has a bright future? Well, apparently not, she's in the job for the cash pay only. That being the case, why would anybody else want to one oracle stock - if there ever was a sell signal this is it

On the other hand, hadn't SC usually dumped ORCL shares as soon as she receives them?

That's what it looks like to me... it's not like the 3M had been held for any length of time... just a pattern of option vest, execute, sell.

If they are planning an "inversion" for tax reasons (effectively moving corporate HQ to another country) she might do this. As I understand it, current shareholders can get a big tax bill when this happens. Of course LE owns a lot more shares, but it is the sort of "financial engineering" she would do, and if she thinks the Trump administration is going to not object..

I had an Indian manager at Oracle tell me once that he would not be surprised if Oracle someday became an Indian company.

On the other hand, hadn't SC usually dumped ORCL shares as soon as she receives them?

Why do you have to keep reposting the same thread you wrote in the first place?

Isn't this considered as 'excessive posting' and against the rules they have listed in the footer here?

I'd say it's spam...

I agree with your message, but I do not want this board to die because of some folks pushing their own opinions on fellow workers way too much

She might be joining Trumps team and may need to divest her ownership as she takes an administrative post. Either way its a big change for Oracle.

Investors take note, she's the ultimate insider and she didn't sell because she needs cash to pay for groceries; she sold because she thinks that going forward oracle is an inferior investment. So why would anybody else want to hold oracle stock? This is the ultimate sell signal
