Husband had been w/ Acme/oracle for 12 years. One of the best and most knowledgeable out there. Won't be long until his talents are recognized and appreciated elsewhere. Sorry to all.

Chilean system support center layoff is now a reality.

Confirmed by close friends that work in x86 & HW Automation teams, massive mail was sent today announcing mandatory meeting in a close building on Friday. Oracle Chile syndicate confirmed this information. Not sure how many teams are involved but it looks like the entire support center will be sent off.

People were crying wolf for years regarding the future of the support center, I guess it finally came to fruition.

Sad for some friends, but there were also a lot of ppl that were waiting for this, hopefully they are paid in full plus some extra.

The chilean system support center is going to be closed on Friday march 10. Nearly 200 system engineers (ACME, Disk, Solaris, Sparc and X86) will send home, most of themnworked for 6 years in this company. Its obvious that the HW buisness its not longer profitable.

Thanks for the report.

Folks, why work for such a depress products (SPARC/Solaris)? Move to other companies while the job market is still good. Did I mention the pay is much better too?

3 in hw support lost this week in SCA.

70 lost last week. This covers SCA and RWS. Maybe some in BUR

We're approaching period where engineers who were given 2-month notice will leave company. Most in SCA

Not all hardware being shut down. Only SPARC and solaris. Intel-based servers will continue but staff is being reduced due to decline

Sorry for those customers who thought SPARC and solaris would be refreshed. We disappointed you once. This will be second and final time

Expect this topic to get spammed now that it's gotten a response
