Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Writing on the wall says if you're not in cloud, your number is coming up

It's no doubt the three stooges will layoff everyone that has nothing to do with cloud. Any replacements they do will likely be hired in India and Romania. They are killing American jobs just to line their pockets. Hope our president will tax the crap out of them for exporting American jobs abroad.

@4gdy, #GOLD post indeed.

If you're in the cloud, make sure you have a parachute. Gravity is a killer.

Agreed on UI, the underlying architecture still much better and much more reliable than the Fusion cloud apps

Siebel is trash. Peoplesoft still looks like it did in 2005. No innovation happening here, move along.

LOL! Why sell reliable on prem solutions like Siebel, PeopleSoft and JDE when you can sell cloud crap instead. Insanity at its best

Most cloud products are bleeding money and poorly architected

Don't even try to explain it to boneheads like MH, RG, and SC, total waste of time. Enjoy watching them fail, that's the ultimate revenge

Dialing for dollars does not work. Even if they cut the prices of the products, why would you buy when Oracle is laying off their best engineering talent?

Got rid of client advisors, the very people who spearheaded sales of enterprise solutions, beginning of FY

LE is a DB Gus has no experience in enterprise software either, the perfect storm

And therein lies the problem: MH is a hardware guy, just plain has no clue about software, so he's killing the SW business by treating it like a HW business. The real fool is, of course, LE who hired MH, what a bonehead!

Selling pizza box servers over the phone works if you're running HP. Trying to sell complicated software, hardware, and cloud over the phone does not.

Why is Salesforce, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google building out a field team to sell cloud? Because they know that selling over the phone is B U L L S H ! T.

Ageeed, MH & SC own no oracle stock and are taking out massive amounts of cash. LE obviously owns stock which he can't sell but can borrow against which he is, so totally agree they are stripping the company down so that LE or his kids if he dies earlier than expected, can cash out by selling oracle to a PE group. THERE IS NO FUTURE AT ORACLE PEOPLE - GET OUT NOW!

What ever they are trying to do, they are calling it industry standard, just don't look as bad as the next guy, IBM, HPE, Dell etc. The bad guys are not Mexican, chinese or indian...it's greedy corporate america.

I don'twork for oracle but I've done a lot of research from an investment perspective. I am pretty sure they are setting things up to take their money and run in the next few years. The writing IS on the wall. You would never do this of you were trying to succeed or compete. Competing by the way is out of the question battle in cloud is lost. They will limp along until they can bundle it up to sell it to stupid private investors or a company that's wants a little piece of the action in whatever remaining cloud software they have or data centres.

Who in their right mind would ever buy enterprise software from a phone sales person?

Might as well just put up a website and sell through that. Hello, Atlassian.

It's much simpler than that, oracle doesn't want to have a filed sales force anymore, just wants to do telesales - much cheaper to have newbies fresh out of college workomg out of call center than to have experience sales people on the field, they pay these kids much lower commissions too! MH & LE totally detached from reality, think customer will buy sophisticated software from kids on the other end of the phone. Watch the train wreck in slow motion and enjoy it.

Oracle is not confident they can train their legacy salesforce to sell the cloud. They've tried and failed but I wouldn't blame it on the people. They don't have their own cloud accounts. They won't give them what they need to succeed. The cloud products also aren't ready or downright s---. It's hard to sell when you don't believe in the products you're selling.

I think Oracle believes they need to refresh their legacy staff to sell cloud. It's out with the old and in with the new. If they can also get rid of older, expensive employees for younger, cheaper ones then that's a double win.

I saw this comin for you all at oracle and I don't even work there. You all have been tricked so badly. I feel so sorry for all of you. Lots of brain washing and the cult of LE.

Oracle is on it's last leg. There will be an acquisition down the road or merger. 5-7 years. A big one that may change the name of oracle in the label.

Good luck all of you.

Unfortunately that is true. Be on cloud or you are done. In less than two years, most of the hardware team will be gone.
