Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Against Layoffs and Free Trade? ALL YOU HPE workers are SOCIALISTS and Hypocrites.

You people who attack "Liberals" are obviously misguided. CAPITALISM is a CAPITALIST and CONSERVATIVE view...and therefore so is FREE TRADE. Anti-FREE TRADE is SOCIALISM. So is your social security. So remember one thing you Trump loving hypocrites. Trump's anti-free trade stance is no different than Bernie Sanders stance on this particular issue. In fact ALL of your "REPUBLICAN" politicians VOTED FOR FAST TRACK TO TPP, when you had some DEMs who VOTED against it more so than the GOP. You guys tout how "informed" and "educated" you are...THEN FOLLOW THE VOTES and check the numbers on who was FOR or AGAINST these agendas. Its not just about the president, its about those other politicians in congress to. Dont be so short sighted people!

@6wyh

I work for a US firm because my job was outsourced. HP joined me. I have little doubt they will pay me off before long.

The NHS is excellent. Never had any reason to complain. Sub par my arse.

What has London got to do with anything? Do all Septics live in New York?

@LX9XBS8-trs if you feel this way? Why do you work for an American company and one that is an icon of capitalism? Oh the irony. And let's be real, your "free" healthcare isn't really free. You pay taxes out the wazoo for this and it's sub par. If you're middle class, you have health insurance. Also, Americans living in squalor? You mean homeless? Doesn't London have an extreme homeless problem too? And it's more than just London.

Pipe down, you pompous windbag. Brexit can't come soon enough.

Well, being a capitalist nation has given us the most expensive health care system in the world. Too bad it only ranks as 37th in quality in the world.

It's not necessary to be either a full on socialist or a full on capitalist. Image trying to drive your car if you only had a button for fully right turn or fully left turn. Not good.

Some things in life are better left as free-for-all capitalism and for others it just might be better if we all stuck together for the better good.

Makes me chuckle that to so many Americans being called a Socialist is the ultimate insult and see healthcare that is free at the point of delivery as a bad thing. So many US citizens seen to live in utter squalor having been disadvantaged by an almost complete klack of employment rights yet still cling to Capitalism. What are you so scared of?

Maybe I'm just another European lefty, snowflake, SOCIALIST!!!!!!!!! Give my commie, pinko a-- a kicking if you wish, my free healthcare works just fine.

That's all fine and dandy if there were truly free efficient markets, the world labor market is not one of those, companies are arbitraging labor and taking advantage of cheap labor because labor markets are eff'd up. In a true market economy where your skills are valued equally I say bring it on, not the case and will not be the case for a couple of generations.

I blame it all on robotic foreigners! We need to start taking a close look at all those “Made in America” factory-produced goodies, and start asking, “Was this made by an American robot, or a foreigner robot?” Good jobs for good AMERICAN robots, I say! Democrat robots, republican robots, it doesn’t matter… They’re not allowed to vote, anyway! And if we can’t find enough good AMERICAN robots, then we need to start building everything by hand, using only our hands and our teeth, and wood, rocks, and mud! THAT will bring our jerbs back!

McCain s---ed bigtime and still does to this day. He will be the Republican Problem for not getting the Trump agenda through. Obama was never challenged by anyone. Appears different rules applied to him and his cronies. They are making such a big issue with the Russian thing. People voted Trump in not the Russians. The russisans provided the info about Hiliary that she said and lied was LOST? Think about that and the whole server issue. ONE BIG SHAMEFUL Democratic thing huh. I prefer Capitalism over Socialism.

byu - please let us know of any examples of countries where you feel the right balance is in place. Also, RE: Meg....I don't think Meg is motivated by greed at HPE. $30M is peanuts to her. Meg is a Billionaire with a capital B. Meg is driven by a desire to make HPE be the best company she can make it be . Her definition of the best is probably not aligned to yours or many other employees but it is her definite and the defining of the shareholders that she is ultimately accountable to.

Who says you cant have it both ways? You just have to have the right balance to where capitalism is checked by a rational mix of socialism to protect the people. The problem we are having is that capitalist corporations have bribed our politicians both DEM and GOP in favor of their own interest overwhelmingly enough so that it has convinced our politicians that CEOs should get paid extravagantly and employees like HPE have their bonuses and benefits cut or worse layed off so that they can put the extra buck in the CEO's wallet. It should be to where CEOs and their workers, work hand in hand and prosper together for the benefit of the community rather than the benefit of themselves and greed. It can work, but the one with the most money has the control. They can choose to fix it by using their money for good or wait for an uprising or vote in a maniac like Trump to send a message to get their act straight. If things dont change, worse scenarios are bound to play out like rebellions or the fall of our country. HPE and its CEO are part of the problem in that they want more from the workers in regards to harder work and lesser bonuses, which in turn collect that money and pay the CEO $30 million. If you had a CEO that understands the plight of the worker, they would give us what we deserve with a fair deal and take less. The company can still be viable, so long as the right ethical and moral moves are made. There have been companies that give their workers tens of thousands in bonuses if they do well. I've seen it work. But its too bad that our CEOs have been too greedy. Now instead they find themselves scrambling wasting millions on their move back from Mexico after spending millions. Hope that this happens, and if it does, it is well deserved for MEG to drown in her greed. Corporate influence with greed and free trade is what got us Trump, they should learn and realize that Americans are no longer willing to give away their hard work to cheap foreign labor. HP management should learn from this lesson. If not, well sooner or later, Americans will rise up. Just like they did with Verizon, and Carrier.

OP - I can't believe it. I finally found someone else that gets it. I see so much hypocrisy in people that slam socialism and yet expect their jobs to be preserved by government policy. I think there are a lot of people in this country that want to have their cake and eat it too. I think you have either 2 choices: global capitalism or national socialism. Pick your poison but you can't have it both ways.

@znr is that all you got? The increase in social programs triggered by the 2008 collapse because more people got layed off and the ongoing obligation payments to the war. That comment about "libs"...remember, if Trump saves your job at HPE, it is from a liberal anti-free trade and socialist policy. It is an indisputable fact. HPE jobs coming back to America can only be saved by a regulation called Tariffs. Study up a bit more on policy and the effects it has on HPE outsourcing, jobs, and deficits.

Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. Obozo ran up the debt 10 Trillion all on his own....more than all presidents before him, COMBINED! Economy limping along at sub 2% annually, more folks on disability, welfare, food stamps than any time in American history. 95 million working age Americans not in the labor force. Government collecting record amounts in tax revenue.

Great job libs...great job.

I know a lot of die hard conservatives who voted McCain in Texas. He did get 59,948,323 votes. The argument against Obama at that time was that he was a "Socialist". People tend to forget that under Bush, we had the collapse that and the people were getting tired of the wars. Which is the primary reason Obama won by such a huge margin. Not just because he was black. When Al Sharpton ran and lost in the Primary in 2004, and he wasnt even close. You conservatives also forget, that unregulated capitalism is what failed us during the Depression and the 2008 collapse. It took 2 "Socialist" presidents to bail us out. Guess what, they both were very popular when compared to their predecessors. This is why some socialist policies are necessary...to keep that check on capitalism. Yes we do need Capitalism, but sometimes it goes too far. For example outsourcing went too far. Irresponsible banking regulations wend too far before the 2008 collapse. Currently it is unregulated loans to college students and unregulated pharmaceutical drug and insurance prices as well. If you are against the high prices, blame unregulated Capitalsim without its "socialist" regulations. People dont get it. You need both, its just that they both need to be implemented properly for society to be prosperous for the people.

Conservatives voted for McCain? Where? In opposite world? We had McCain shoved on us by the big gov progressive wing of the GOP. This is why conservatives are fed up with the spineless corrupt self serving rinos of the GOP.

LOL. I can see that you are on the Progressive team. Its true. Most hardcore conservatives who voted Trump and is mainly supporting his free trade stance, voted for Mcain and Romney. Obama was actually running as fair trade not free trade advocate during his primary. None of these conservative guys voted for him for that stance instead they chose McCain. The moment a Republican shouts a liberal ideology...its "okay", but when a Democrat does, he is a "socialist" or a "liberal. Yeah, I see many here who are so ingrained in party identity that they lose sight in what they actually believe in. Its called brainwashing. btw. I was a Bernie supporter to, and I voted Trump. Simply because for his free- trade stance. I wish more people voted for the issues and the substance of them rather than their party identity. It is such an ignorant way to vote.

Dude, please. Its Monday evening. Can you dial back on the all caps? ...just...relax. Tune off the news. Read a book or meditate. The president doesnt make or break companies. It is usually your CEO and board of directors that can inspire, fund RnD and unleash creativity which...Im not seeing right now. In fact it is looking really kind of ...I dont know. Not feeling the wirldwide server love. Not understanding this business model. Seemed promising then...does anyone who has worked here a while, does it look like wheels falling off?
