MH comes to town to lead a group massacre - stay away!
If I got an email telling me to show up to a meeting with ANY Oracle manager, not to forward to anyone AND to show up with a copy of the email AND MY BADGE . . . . .I would be wondering if I was getting laid off.
Oracle is quickly becomming the land of the bizarre, got forbid any random employee showed up for a meeting with the CEO, just plain can't have that
Emails were sent to Oracle employees in Dallas offices announcing a visit from Mark Hurd. There was a note in the email saying not to forward it to any colleagues and in order to attend the meeting, you must bring a copy of the email and your ID badge...

That right, many of us have either directed experience being RIFed by oracle or personally know people who have been RIFed or both! And then there are the WARN notices filed with state gov by oracle legal!

I don't recommend posting counts of employees from ARIA as those numbers are Oracle Confidential. This talk of people being RIFed is all talk. Nobody has any evidence of it and the press is merely spinning what is posted here by the ill-informed. I recommend we all not talk about RIF or Oracle reduced head count.
There is no way they will let you transfer and keep your salary, nor will they let you take a pay cut. They want to bring in new, low cost youngsters
How many people have successfully transfer from one Oracle BU to another? Oracle would rather hire new cheaper labor than have someone transfer with max Salary and Benefits.
Just because there are job postings doesn't mean that oracle is hiring, some of the postings are ancient - never get cleaned up, and some are just pipeline building in case managers get a go ahead to hire. Major diatinction between job postings which require no authorization and recs to hire which have to be signed off at a very high level these days to control headcount. Don't get fooled by making assumptions. Oracle headcount is going down, with temporary ups for acquisitions.

Keep sharing information it's the right thing to do, especially as oracle is trying to keep everything under wraps.
Let's not post internal information for all to see. Oracle is bad as any other legacy IT companies. We all should be grateful to have a job in the current economy. If you don't like Oracle, apply somewhere else. The grass is not always greener. Now get back to work or pretend you are busy with your spreadsheets and feed the bean counters on the ivory tower. It's all just a game, just play it like a pro.
