Whenever you think you are safe think about it two times - you may be wrong. For example people are talking about job cuts here in NYC.

Yep hate to say it but unless VZ starts firing the decision makers, they will go all the way down. T-Mobile was getting bought. They hired a new CEO and now Verizon and ATT belong to T-Mobile (figuratively).
can you still receive unemployment benefits in the state of Ohio if have received a severance ?
HR has been getting complaints, everyone doesn't know what is going on. Unless, you are part of the executive team, the Board of Directors are concerned...watch the stocks slide..no...really slide.
VZW paid me to leave at 63 years old...20+ years. With the severance, vacation and un-employment I haven't missed a check yet and look forward to 'sliding' into retirement. Others left in the department just waiting for a similar deal and will RUN out the door as I did.
First time i have logged into this site since last June, and you havent forgot me #asshatmanlives
Any sightings of ASSHAT MAN ?😕
Your just a number and a pink slip away from being let go. The more you make, your at the top of their list..
Any rumors on rifs for wireline network eng & ops?
April 2017 is not far away. VDSI will be in charge of programming and Warren employees will looking for work.
@1xyn - Technically you are correct. It is the people Verizon calls "manager" when they need to find scabs to fill EWA duty.
The reality .... there are no real managers at Verizon. They are all a bunch of s----@$$es that will stoop to any level to look productive while they stab their friends and co-workers in the back.
@tzk - Before VZW merged with the landline business there wasn't layoffs twice a year. I started with Cellular One in 1991 and was recently laid off. The wireless side used to be a pretty safe place to work.
That's true for management, not associates.
There is no doubt the company would love to see onshore folks leave without a severance. And I think in many areas the company is making life intentionally miserable so people will leave. Rumor has it one center has been converted to cafeteria-style seating. No cubes, no assigned seats or phones/headsets. It's just like eating lunch at school or the prison mess-hall.
I took my severance, ran out the door and had a better job in less than a month. Happy Holidays!
I'm sure they would like you to leave without the out package. Don't do it if you have more than three weeks of vacation unless you have a really good situation to jump to. With our severance we bought a car and have plenty left for a medical fund since the benefits at the new company are what we used to call catastrophic coverage, but seem to be the new normal for a lot of companies. Work on yourself - get a degree, get a masters, learn a new skill, pay off your debt. No need to leave without being paid to do so if you can handle the not knowing and the workload. The visa hiring and manager crap isn't going away anytime soon so just be prepared.
You'd think that after years of the same pattern of abuse, everyone with any sense of self-worth and marketable skills would've left.
So pretty much the only ones left are Verizon are the dingle-berries. And they are hanging close to black hole that produced them ....
You kind of have to develop an "I'm a contractor" mentality, but the benefits package is better while the gig lasts.
I feel safe too. I got out last year. But come here to see the meat grinder continue to churn out misery.
I feel safe, I took the October EISP.
It's been going on forever 2x per year....obviously someone new.
Nobody feels safe on this board bro
