Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

TW will not happen!

No way in hell is the FCC going to approve this deal but on the slim chance they do (I mean real slim) where is Randy going to go to finance it? We have a B+++ score and if we acquire this company that changes due to the amount of debt this would mean the company is in. I hope when this deal collapses shareholders force him out and promoted someone who wants to go back to what we do best: connecting people. While content providers come and go, people will always need a way to connect.

Since I thought this thread was about "layoffs", I'll just repeat a common theme. SBC has made massive layoffs to every company they have brought (merged). If the government doesn't stop thi,s it will be more of the same! They then will control the news through this purchase, which is a major mistake knowing this companies monopolistic practices. Did I say layoffs!!! They're planing to operate unregulated, buy up all the competition, lie, control the internet, and stick it to the customer. By the way did I say SBC layoffs!!! For those who don't know ATT Is SBC that some call that " Sun of a B company".

Randall has the right people paid off on this one. It's going through. No one stops Randall

Don't forget the upcoming Fortune CEO of the year award he'll be receiving soon.

Randall isn't getting shoved out anytime soon.

promising the moon is what Randall does best. Its part of his charm. And with this deal framing lackluster (from what I predict 4Q results) he can string the shareholders on for a few more years.

There's probably a JD powers award in the future too. Its all hocus pocus distraction.

This is also one of the last rabbit hat tricks Randall will be afforded. With all the debt, there's nothing else he'll be able to buy without triggering some sort of loud alarm.

Selling wireline - you have seen it on this site before, way to address the rural areas after promising the moon to get this deal. It's a bad deal for att as you know it

@dug...Actually...all of Randall's deals with the FCC do fall into some context of Tmobile. I know a couple of people at the FCC who had some insight...and that second to last deal shaded his subsequent one.

You need to channel your frustration into a pivot or something LOL..

@qee

Exactly. Concessions will be made. This deal will go through. If it doesn't, I would expect some serious legal challenges from TW and AT&T, since Obama had no problem approving the Comcast/Universal Deal.

Expect things like discounted internet and guarantees made to other providers that AT&T will not withhold things like HBO and Warner Bros movies, but other than that, this deal goes through.

What's going to be really funny is watching the politicians in Washington pretend to care about this, but once assurances are made and donations are given, they won't do anything.

To the OP...

The deal will never go to the FCC for approval. TW only owns one TV station and possibly one or two other interiors that would trigger the FCC's need to approve. You can bet that those will be spun off to another buyer so the FCC does not have to be involved at all. Other fed agencies will have to apprvove, but not the FCC.

@pwl.. you're an idiot the deal still has to be approved. You can arrange all refinancing you want but if FCC/FTC say no. It's not happening. Financing was arranged for tmoble too.

No, you're the idiot. This deal has nothing to do with T-Mobile and the fact that you bring it up signals you don't have a clue about what you're discussing (or trying to).

The current take on this mega-merger is that it is likely to be approved, even though there will be a lengthy regulatory review and concessions.

You're a dummy.

Randy and his cronies always lie when it comes to public and government pronouncements about a deal they are trying to close. It always comes down to "trust us" which, unless you live in a cave, we all know is complete crap.

Not sure how this is even possible with the mountain of debt this mega $hit corporation carries. And I'm sure consumers are so excited two $hit companies trying to come together to form one giant $hit company. Yay....

The deal is already in the financing stage, with a major part of it coming from JP Morgan.

Can you idiots even read?

The FCC doesn't care about debt and how ATT will pay for all of this. Let's just hope though that all the "smooth operators" aren't trying to position this as a job creation merger. That didn't go over well the last time they used that one.

We are $110 billion in debt now and haven't even started to try to finance this deal. With $7.2 in available cash, heads will roll
