Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

I am a Megbe! (Meg believer) - HPE Touches 52-Week High

For the 2-3 ones (they are always the same frustrated ex-employees posting and replying to each other) badmouthing Whitman on this site, enjoy this article... Evidently, she is doing a pretty damn good work! Go HPE! Go employees! Don't let these lost souls demotivate you. We are doing the rith things.

Just got this strange email at work:

Meg Whitman

President & CEO

To: U.S. Employees

As you may know, I have been a vocal participant in this year’s presidential election. I believe strongly that every citizen has an obligation to constructively speak out for their beliefs during the political process. That is what makes America special in the world.

While the results of the election are not what I had hoped for, I believe that once the debate is over and the votes have been counted, it is the obligation of every citizen to support our President. So, I for one intend to give President-elect Trump the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to demonstrate that he can lead our diverse nation.

After such a hard fought election, it is important that every American take a moment to reflect on the results and to understand the message that our citizens have sent. Then we must bring the country together and move forward, stronger than ever.

Meg

Dear Meg, who gives a sh--! Keep your politics to yourself.

Hello @dtbs... As promised, here I am... It's the 17th... Where are the thousands and thousands of layoffs? Of course - an unfortunately - there have been layoffs during the past weeks, but the "thousands and thousands" you said was pure trolling, dumb@ss. Next time, show more respect to the ones that are still here. Bye, @55h@le.

"@dtbs... Just following up on you, buddy... 10/10/16, and I still don't see the "thousands and thousands" of layoffs, you dumb @ss. In one more week, I'll stop to say hi again, and to remind you what a troll you are. I bet you don't work at HPE for quite some time now... Get a life!"

How's life treating you today MegBE? dumb@$$.........

@dtbs - It'll be my pleasure to ridicule you when the 17th arrives... :-) Thousands and thousands to get notice in less than two weeks... hehehe Sure... Unfortunately, there will be more layoffs but IN NO WAY to the level that you say. Do you really believe anyone will take that BS as a potential real scenario? I actually like you. You are funny...

@dybc - Mark my words, I'll be making you eat yours in the next few days. After being here over 25 years, I have contacts and details on this massive WFR and you are a clueless cheerleader. But, please don't believe me now, just give it until the 17th, which is last time to give 2-weeks notice before the end of the fiscal year, then you'll see.

@dubw... Actually, what I take from your analysis is not mass layoffs, but most probably another big spin-off soon... Hmmm... I wonder what Organization that would be... This witch knows what she is doing... By doing "spin-offs", she's not technically laying off people, saving plenty of money on severance packages. She definitively knows how to play the system... Reminds me of one of our Presidential candidates... Oops!

@dxlp, I am affraid the 'thousands' number may not be exaggerated after all. The employee strength of HPE after CSC spin/merge is completed would be in the 100, 000 neighborhood. The MicroFocus spin/merge will reduce that number by 10 to 12000. That would leave around 85000 remaining with HPE. The CEO has stated publicly that HPE would have 50 to 60000 people by the middle of 2017. Now you do the math. Doesn't that translate to 25000 to 35000 more?

Thousands of people in software will get their walking papers between now and next August. WFRs started this week in software sales Just because Mean Meg doesn't brag about it on HPE news, doesn't mean it isn't happening. She wants the layoffs prior to FY end to show better numbers to Wall Street. And, as part of the deal struck with MicroFocus, HPE software - or what is left of it - will be a bag of bones by the time it gets spun/merged out of existence. Who needs software R&D when the only revenue stream the new owner cares about is annual support. Go to MicroFocus' web site and see if you can find the last time they announced a new product. As for new releases, yes, they have those .. but just to keep the software running as environments change so that their support revenue stream is not interrupted.

@dxlp - "Thousands and thousands"? That's BS... I don't doubt more layoffs will occur, but definitively not at that scale. Stop spreading rumors and FUD to which you have ZERO details... People like you really piss me off. Trying to create an unnecessary panic & hysteria among already stressed peers. I bet you don't even work at HPE anymore... Get over it.

Meg and company are selling off the future of the company for short term profit. HP Labs just had a WFR 2 weeks ago where 30% of the people were fired. Thousands and thousands more are going to get laid off in the next few days - all before the end of October, the end of the fiscal year. This makes the stock go up, but it is soooo short sighted.

I see this (and similar posts in other sites) as a desperate move from HPE to keep it's top talent, who is leaving by hordes.

These BS posts from management are insulting to the intelligence of HPE employees. Do you really think we are clueless enough to believe that kind of fluff? It shows how out of touch management really is with everyone else while we watch the company being dismantled around us and sold off for parts. A big disconnect with the rank and file staff here.

The truth that I see is that the Company is kicking @ss out there when compared to our competitors (based on financial facts and markets share). "HP Enterprise is poised to succeed where it counts -- in high margin, fast-growing markets."...

@5egg.. Just wait for the annual Nov 1st shuffle. Let's see if you're still drooling over HPE then. HPE is loosing market share.. big time.. due to Meg's so called strategy and poorly managed optics. I was a 30yr vet and I can tell you my old long time (10+ yrs) clients are "running" away from everything HPE as fast as they can.

HPE will be around for a LOOOOONG time... "From a value perspective, HP Enterprise stock, even near its 52-week high, still trades at just 9 times trailing earnings: That's about half the P/E ratio of most of its peers. Whitman has HP Enterprise poised to succeed where it counts -- in high margin, fast-growing markets. Add to that its relative value, and HP Enterprise stock is still a bargain." HPE is the hottest IT Company to work for right now! We are extremely lucky to work here. If you don't work here anymore, I'm sorry... But, allow us (who remain) to live with excitement the future that awaits. Go HPE!

@pou You need to start looking for job... You probably need a bit therapy, and for god's sake don't stop taking your med's...

You sound like a fricken Nazi "you either execute, or look for another job somewhere else." & "I stay because I want, and believe in her vision." A lot of Germans believed in Hitler... I am pretty sure you know the outcome of that encounter... Well, your in love with Meg, so maybe you don't because your blinded by her beauty... I will just say it ended badly for those that stayed, so as not to set you off on a blind rampage in grocery store...

Investors are happy (no doubt), but the employees morale is really low. We still do our job, but the passion is definitively not there. We work for a paycheck, not because we believe with excitement where we are going. Sooner or later we will all work for another employer (either through layoffs, spin-offs, mergers, or simply because we leave by our own). Rather than spending too much energy thinking about that, I simply do my job as good as I can, and try to learn and network as much as possible. When my time comes, it'll simply come... I won't loose endless nights being all stressed out about the possibility of being kicked out, or spending a ridiculous amount of energy seeking another one, while I'm ok here. When things happen (if they happen), then I'll deal with that. I've learned to cope with all this s### for the last 16 years, and I'm still here... I've seen lots of people being either laid off or fired, and I'm still here... If at some point it happens to me, i could say that I was more than lucky to have survived for so long. I stay here because it's my decision. No one is forcing me to either stay or leave.

She is a fine example of how short term thinking by today's CEOs endangers future competitiveness of U.S. firms. They are in it for short term personal gain. Let the futures of their employees and business be damned.

Whitman, like most CEOs, has much in common with a psycopath mentally. They are are pretty much all the same. As long as "shareholder value" trumps actual product quality it won't change.

The reality is that you can badmouth her all you want, but she'll continue moving forward as per her strategy. I guess it's ok to vent your frustrations, but - and I don't want to be rude, but honest - you either execute, or look for another job somewhere else. You can post here all the messages you want, calling her names, or whatever. None of that will change anything. You either stay and execute as per her vision, or leave. People whine a lot, but the reality is that overall in the US, the HPE voluntary turnover is extremely low. Nobody is forcing people to stay if they don't want to... If you can't cope with the ambiguity and the potential risk of being laid off, HPE is not the place for you. You can call me names as well; talk about me drinking her kool-aid, and some other BS like that... I stay because I want, and believe in her vision. If I get laid off, it's because of a risk I decided to take. Nothing forces me to stay here, and neither you (assuming you are still an employee). And, if you are not an employee anymore, get over it, and move forward with your professional and personal life. S*** happens, and it happened to you because you decided to stay here and take the risk. If you are not an employee, you shouldn't be even posting here... Geesh...

MegBe - you have got to be kidding. Do a little research.

Fox Business voted her the #1 Worst CEO in the world. Read the article - wrap your mind around the stats - it is ugly - my favorite quote from that article - this is not a turnaround it's a bloodbath.

She was also named The Worst Tech CEO of all time. She has a long history of bullying, berating and abusing her staff. She has thrown phones at eBay staff, cussed out recruiters, walked Palo Alto and put red sticky's in empty cubes. She is a psycho!!! In 2007 she lost her mind so bad she body slammed an employee named Young Mi Kim, Young walked away with a very nice settlement and Meg resigned.

She is a horrible horrible person and an awful leader.

Please do your research on the "wonderful" Meg. She has a track record of doing this exact same thing with other companies. Her 5 year plan is to cut internal costs to please wall street...make the stock look better and then sell the company. That is what is happening now...it is year 5 and time to have the fire sale! I really hope that you take your lips off of Meg butt long enough to find another job before you are left on the side of the road.

Come on, @awl... Rob Enderle? Zero credibility... Was that the best you could get? With only one comment? It's time to acknowledge and accept that Meg is doing what needs to be done. I'm not in favor of the layoffs, but if I put myself on her shoes, she is doing what she's been paid for, balancing the success of the Company with the investors' needs. If at the end, the Board & stakeholders decide that the best option from a business standpoint is to sell the Company in pieces, then that's what will be done, and neither you, or me, or anyone can do anything about it. It's my personal opinion that Meg will seek a big merger before selling the Company in pieces. She knows what she is doing. Any employee not comfortable with having her as our leader (focused on executing her strategy) should look for another opportunity out of HPE.
